I have a Onkyo TX-RZ730 receiver and for the last six months I have been able to use my iPhone and connect Bluetooth to receiver and play songs through my speaker thru out my house. Recently tho, I can connect but no sound comes out of my external speaker connected with receiver, only through my phone speaker. Any suggestions please? Thank you Steve

I suggest you check the settings to make certain everything is correct, the way it was when you first set it up. OR you could try and reset the thing by setting it all up again. If you can find the factory reset on the unit, do that and then do all the settings again.

SOURCE: Onkyo 805 sub hook up problem

I made the same mistake when i hooked my REL sub up to the back of the 805.

The problem is there are 2 connectors on the back of the amp that are labeled as sub out. Look very closely, you will see that there are 2 grouped RCA outs. The RCA out group you are looking for differentiated by groups of "little white dots" all the way to the far right on the back of the amp. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Powered Or Unpowered Subwoofers For Onkyo TX-8511

Greg- Powered subs are better than non-powered subs (also known as passive subs), anyway I see the TX-8511 has no sub pre-out on the back panel, so you need to decide what sub you will use and run from the receivers left and right speakers output into a subwoofers speaker in from speakers then back out to speakers, look at the back of a subwoofer and you will see like 4 sets of speaker hookups 2 in and 2 out, what this does is takes the low end or bass and drops the signal to the subwoofer then takes the mids and highs out to your left and right speakers, unless your regular left and right stereo speakers have large woofers a sub is the way to go.

SOURCE: How do I connect my outside speakers to play?

The onkyo should still have a speaker A/B selector in the menu.
Check on the back panel for speaker A/B.
If it has or you decide to use Zone 2 you will need to set the sound programme to "stereo" so the rears and centre do not work.
You can still use a digital source.
You should be able to display the amp's menu on the screen.
Hook up "monitor out" (Yellow) via RCA connector to one of the "A/V inputs" (yellow) on the tv, this will show you a display of the menu and will make it eaiser to navigate.

Hi my onkyo a/v receiver tx-rz730 is not turning on it's stuck on hybrid standby mode with light but their is no display and after 20 minutes the receiver goes automatically off. I just remembered that...

The Auto Stand-by turns off the receiver if there is no audio or video signal for 20 minutes when set to On. Thus it shouldn't be blocking the receiver from coming on if it is set to Off. When the USB Power Out on Standby (power to a USB device when the receiver is off) or Network Standby (enable network power on requests from the Onkyo app) are enabled, then you get the hybrid standby mode if the Power Management Auto Stand-by is active (On). There is also an HDMI Standby mode for throughput of an HDMI signal.

What devices do you have connected to the receiver? Try turning on a video or audio source before you turn on the receiver. The other reasons for the unit not to turn on is the protection circuit being engaged. This can happen from overheating or a loose speaker wire touching another wire or the back of the receiver. Usually if the unit has the protection circuit engaged, the display will indicate Amp Diag Mode. After the diagnostic test, the display will indicate if there is a problem (SP wire). If there is nothing on the display after the diagnostic, the receiver should work properly when it receives an audio signal to send to the speakers. If the unit has been overheating, make sure that there is good ventilation around the receiver. Also clean any dust off the unit.

Crutchfield has the manual for the TX-RZ730 on the product page: https://www.crutchfield.com/S-lvaBRQ0O5ib/p_580RZ730/Onkyo-TX-RZ730.html . The current link to the manual is https://pdf.crutchfieldonline.com/ImageBank/v20200223150400/Manuals/580/580RZ730.PDF .

I hope this helps. If you heard an abnormal sound or smelled smoke, then the unit has internal damage. Similarly, if the problem continues, I'd suspect a wiring fault between the internal power supply and the main board of the receiver. The unit needs service or replacement.

Bose Cinemateonnect

Hi lechap,

With the indulgence of IB4G2008 as per his last post Feb 13.....

If I figure your concerns right, they are:
1. You have an iPod on an Onkyo IPod dock that you want to connect to an Onkyo receiver TX-302;
2. You have an Onkyo receiver TX-302 that you want to power a set of Bose Cinemate speakers;
3. the connectors on some do not fit or are not the same;
4. you want to know what goes to where.

If I may suggest:
a. connect the L/R Audio Out of the Onkyo IPod dock to the L/R Audio IN of VIDEO 1 using a pair of RCA to RCA cable. Connect the S Video Out of the Onkyo IPod dock to the Video IN of VIDEO 1 using an S Video to RCA Video cable. Thereafter if you want to watch a movie or play music from your iPod, you need to choose Video 1 in the Onkyo receiver TX-302. You can of course choose any other VIDEO 1~3;572fcdc.jpg34ab5d3.jpg

d21fa99.jpg
b. all other source/devices may be connected similarly using the same scheme on any of the free VIDEO / AUDIO inputs
c. of course the MONITOR OUT goes to your TV or projector.

With respect to the Bose Cinemate, it would not be technically correct to connect the Bose Cinemate speakers straight to the speaker out of the Onkyo receiver TX-302. You need to install another set of speakers to the speaker outs of the Onkyo receiver. The Bose Cinamate system's TV AUDIO could be connected to the TAPE OUT (or the AUDIO L/R OUT of VIDEO 1)

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

How to connect Sony dvd player to onkyo TX-8511 receiver

The TX-8511 is an older AV receiver with only composite video inputs. Your DVD player may not provide this type of output as it's not capable of HD video. If your dvd player has a composite output with a Red, White & Yellow set of outputs, that will connect into the Video 2 inputs on the receiver. Your TV will need to connect up to the Video2 or Monitor output. You'll need a set of composite video cables with the red-white & yellow RCA type plugs.

Here is a link to the manual for this receiver:

Receiver USB port Reading "No Storage"

I have the same problem as you with <no storage> using the UBT-1 on an Onkyo TX-NR616. Any device can connect to the UBT but the AVR does not seem to recognize the UBT-1 device.
Very annoying for such an expensive AVR.
