Can I use my Kenwood receiver as a pre-amp? Someone said I could run RCA connectors from the Kenwood 'tape out' to one of the stereo inputs on the Yamaha.
No you can not. tape out is line level, turntables produce a small signal and require a preamp to boost to correct level
Testimonial: "Thanks - glad I asked first - pre-amp it is!"
You're welcome. i like sweetwater.com. i have purchased about $2000.00 worth of audio equipment. They stand behind everything they sell and very knowledgeable about audio equipment. They may be more than you want to spend Ive bout from musicians friend.com also
Zzzounds.com. I don't work for sweetwater and i do not receive any commission, just a happy customer. their after sale service is the best. Remember you want a phono preamp that is quit as possible. I am old have several boxes of LP,s all played onetime when recording to cassette tape. I prefer the vinyl sound over digital, that is why I like cassette tapes.
Yup, I'm a vinyl and cassette gal - good idea, to back up my vinyl to cassettes, to save wear & tear - thanks!

SOURCE: Connecting a Yamaha VX7 Subwoofer on my Yamaha HTR 5730 AV Receiver
Hello srqwrk,
You can connect the VX7 to the 5730 using an RCA Y cable like the one shown in the picture below. You get your one connection for the receiver and 2 for the VX7. These are available at any electronics store. Remember that the cable should be long enough to go from the receiver to where subwoofer will be placed.
Hope this helps. Let me know.

SOURCE: Can I still used this equipment
Hi Jerome
You will need either a pre-in pre-out connection on the amp to use, A vcr in/out loop can be used in lieu of a "tape" loop. Or alternatively you can put the EQ in line with the bit of gear you want to EQ. In this day and age, of "many more than stereo" systems, a 2 channel EQ has much less application. Although this seems to "outdate" a piece of gear, most stuff from yesteryear still sounds great, so why stop using it. Good Luck and happy listening. A "FixYa" rating from you would help my profile. I am happy to answer any questions you may still have, put them in here and I shall get back to you.
regards

just connect your subwoofer mono RCA to your amp sub single out rca connector. you do not need to megre all those 4terminals into one. in fact internal circuit of those 4rca are merging inside to one since the sub uses only a single amp. 4inputs was meant for sources with multiple sub out

your media out(dvd-cd-dat-deck player)-to equalizer in-and equalizer out to aux or cd in receiver.

You will not need to y connect your subwoofer, if you have only one RCA sub out on your receiver the other end of the RCA connector cable goes into the left input on most powered subs, there is no loss of signal, the option exist as some receiver do sport a double RCA sub out.
