Unfortunately most DELL printers have no Mac compatibility and the 810 is no exeption, having no printer drivers for it makes it virtually useless on a Mac as the two devices can't communicate with each other.

No, because that model printer is just rubbish. Throw the thing out and purchase a laser Brother HL-2170 and it will work just splendid with the Apple PowerBook G4.
As you can see here and here, if you go to the Dell site, the mac os is not supported for the 922 printer. You must use xp or 2000.
To get a printer that supports the mac os, search for 'mac compatible printers', instead of wasting your time fighting to use that one.
I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread. If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!
By default, Dell printers are not manufactured to work on Mac OS. You can try using a generic driver for Lexmark printers to use your Dell printer, but chances are, your printer would not work.
download Gassan-Mac-9-MR2RC2.sit from dell site (printer site, drivers, mac os) and unpack it with stuffit expander. it contains drivers for mac os 9 and mac os x. then just install it and select driver from the list when adding modifying printer
