Scandisk light is on but PC doesn't recognise USB flash drive

right click my computer and go to manage. Then select disk management and see if it in there. If it and doesn't have a drive letter by it. Select mount it and assign it a letter and it should work. If not then the flash drive is probably bad.

I need a flash drive and can't find one that is compatible

Flash drives come in different amounts up to 32Gb as of yet. They are called Thumb drives, USB Drives, and USB Sticks. They all use the same parts and operate just about the same . Do not be confused with Flash Memory as they use the same NAND memory chip, but interface with a PC in different ways. see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB_flash_drive

If you are referring to a Flash Memory, then they come in several formats CF, SD, and Mini SD.

If you are referring to the problem of not being recognized by your PC, then that is because they have stopped having an identity Drive letter, due to being re-formatted, and a drive letter was not assigned. Therefore, "My Computer" cannot see them.

to correct this go into Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Computer Management/ Disk Management. you will see your Flash Memory with out a drive letter. R.click on your drive, Click on add, click on one of the drive letters. I use F to remind me that it is a flash drive.

My computer do not reconnyse the flash disc

Reasons could be:-
1) you need software drivers
2) your flash drive is not the same USB version as on your computer.
3) bad flash drive
4) you had recent work on your computer and the drive letters got rearranged. If the drive letter that the flash drive used to use, is now being used by another drive, it won't recognize it the flash drive when you connect it. What happens is it tries to assign the same drive letter. If you have other USB devices connected, then disconnect them and try again.
hope it helps

My louck flash is formated and now i can not use the space what do i do?

Your Imation Swivel Flash Drive comes formatted and ready to use right out of the box.
If you will be using the drive exclusively with Macintosh computers, do not format the Imation Swivel Flash Drive. The formatting message appears if your Macintosh has not yet been set up to read Windows-formatted files. Refer to your Mac's user manual to learn how to enable Windows file read functionality.
Also, be aware that when you format your Imation Swivel Flash Drive with NTFS, you will not be able to store as much data as your would without formatting. The format file used by NTFS will use some of the available space on the Flash drive - for instance, on a 128MB Imation Swivel Flash Drive, you may lose up to 8MB to the NTFS format files.

How do I format my Imation USB 2.0 Swivel Flash Drive in Windows? Your drive must be set up as a single public partition, since neither Windows Explorer nor the Macintosh OS will recognize a password protected partition.
To format the drive in Windows:
  • Go to My Computer
  • Locate the corresponding drive letter for the Swivel Flash drive (i.e. removable drive F)
  • Right click
  • Choose Format from the menu
A dialog box will come up and allow you to format your Swivel Flash Drive. Depending on your operating system, you can choose to format the drive in FAT, FAT32, or NTFS.

How to I remove or resize a partition on my Imation Swivel Pro Flash Drive? To resize or remove a secure partition, you will need to do the following:
  • Open the Flash Manager software on your hard drive
  • Choose Create a partition
  • Move the slider to zero (0)
Why don't I see a drive letter for my Imation Swivel Flash Drive?

This problem occurs if you map a network drive to the first available drive letter following the drive letters for the local volumes and CD/DVD drives. When you install a new device or volume, a software called Mount Manager tries to assign drive letters to the new volumes. But since the software does not recognize mapped drive letters, it assigns the next available local drive letter to the new device. This causes a collision with the existing mapped network drive.
Since the problem is related to your Microsoft operating system, they are your best source for resolving this issue. For more information, click here.

I formated my system with the flash drive in it and i found out that it is not reading, i want to know how to reque the flash drive for it to work or respond so i can save in it.

the problem is the Operating System is trying to assign the flash drive a drive-letter that is already assigned. For example it is trying to assign the drive-letter "D" which is already your cd drive. If you right click on the "My Computer" icon and select "Manage" then select "Disk Managment" you can change the assigned drive letter of the flash drive to a un used drive letter. Once you do this the Operating System should be able to see and use the flash drive.

U3 smart drive is a USB flash drive that allows you to install and run U3 smart applications from the U3 smart drive itself. When you use a drive in this manner, you can take your applications with you and run them on any Windows 2000 or XP computer.

Not only can you use the U3 smart drive for carrying your files but you can also carry your applications with your personalized settings with you as well. There is an application that is included on every U3 smart drive called the U3 Launchpad and it is your console for managing the applications that are installed on your U3 smart drive. The U3 Launchpad also provides utilities that let you customize your U3 smart drive your way.

More on U3:
Under the hood, a U3 smart drive is an advanced USB flash drive with special features that allow the U3 smart drive to take on multiple personalities depending on how it has been configured. The default configuration is composed of two drive letters or domains. One of the drive letters is a removable mass storage domain just like any other USB flash drive. The other drive letter or domain emulates a closed CD-R CD disc in a CD drive and contains the U3 system files that makeup the U3 Launchpad. When you connect the U3 smart drive to your PC, you will see two new drive letters after the Windows OS has fully set up the drive.

You will see the emulated CD-R drive which usually is indicated in file explorer by a U3 logo and another drive letter that is the mass storage domain. The mass storage drive letter will have a label with a name like "My U3 Drive" or some other manufacturer specific label. Newer versions of the U3 Launchpad lets you rename the drive letter label using the Status and Settings dialog. Older U3 Launchpads can be renamed by right clicking on its drive letter label in file explorer and selecting rename.

The drive letters assigned to the two drive domains by the Windows operating system can be any available letter but typically are between F: and Z:. The two letters may or may not be sequential and the mass storage drive letter may be before the CD-R drive letter. You do need to see both drive letters appear in order for the U3 Launchpad to run.

Flash drive not working

Start my right clicking on My Computer and select manage from the options. Once there click on disk management and find the name of your flash drive or see that it is the correct size. Right click on the name of the thumb drive and select change drive letter and path. Then change the letter to something like Q or a letter not being used. Sometimes that works for me at work.

How to transfer data/file to UBS devise

If the USB device is a hard drive or flash drive (a.k.a. thumb drive), when you plug it in you should see its light flash, and Windows should assign it a drive letter. If you open up My Computer, you will probably see the additional drive letter in the list. You should be able to save files to the drive's letter, or drag and drop files onto the drive letter, and the files will transfer to the device.
