Artist doesn't show up in "Artist"

The song and album show up under the appropriate listings, but when I search in "Artist" I can't find the artist listed. This is only the case for some artists, but I wonder how many are affected and how much of my music may not be listed at all

    This is on a 120GB iPod, NOT a 30GB

A typical iTunes problem. You should scrap itunes and use the Copy TRans Suite

You need to check the information on your computer.

Right click on the songs that are not showing up under artist and look at the info for them. If they don't have an artist listed, they will not show up on your ipod in the artist tab. You can add the artist name and then sync your ipod and it will update your music information for you.

I added CD covers to the CD's in my COBY MP707. They show up in the media manager software, but I can't get them into the physical player. Also sometimes the album gets broken up in the player...

The mp3 player organizes by ID3 tag information, which is on the individual song. It unfortunately doesn't organize it any other way. Album art is not supported by the MP3 player. You can copy it over but it wont show, probably just see the default keyboard image. You can edit the ID3 information with a tag editor..the naming has nothing to do with it, most of Coby's MP3 players have no sort order for music outside of what I just explained.

I have a Coby MP620-8G mp3 player. For some reason, I've been getting a whole bunch (at least 15 albums) of my artists thrown into the Unknown Artist category, making it difficult to find songs. In my...

I just had this problem as well. Find one of the files that is showing up on the MP3 player as "Unknown Artist" in your iTunes library. Right click that song/file and click "Get Info". You'll most likely find that the song is an "ACC Audio File" which happens often when you copy CDs or download from the iTunes Store. Close the info window about the song and then you can select the entire album or individual songs from your iTunes playlist that are showing up as "Unknown Artist". Once all the songs that you need are selected, right click again and select "Create MP3 Version". This will create a duplicate, however, so you'll want to go back to the main library in iTunes (or stay there if you are already there) and then remove the original "ACC" versions. You can, if you'd like, keep them on your hard drive, but you really don't need them because MP3 is the standard. From here you can remove those files from the Coby MP3 player and replace them with the new MP3 versions you have created in iTunes.
I hope this helps!

Unable to Edit Files.

Open Windows Media Player 11
Right click on one of the songs that is showing up as unknown artist.
Select "Advanced Tag Editor"
Manually enter the artist information, etc.

To save time, you could also right click the song and select "Find Album" info - it won't find every album, but it will find most of them.

The real bear is that once you have edited the information in Windows Media Player, you have to delete the affected song off of your mp3 player and THEN reload the newly-edited song - or else your changes won't register on the mp3 player itself.

Organization

In the music menu, there is an option to search by Artist or Album as long as you have at least one song on the player that has an ID3 tag that lists the song's artist or album. Those are the only way of organizing the songs on this particular player.

Music loaded but not recognized under Artist

If you use a fileshare program to download music, sometimes some of the song information is changed and/or deleted. The album information is probably still with the song, but the artist info isn't. It's really stupid but the only thing you can do is just find the song through albums instead of artist.
