If you do an internet search for "necchi 3205 threading" As an 'image', you will find many images with either the 3205 or other similar Necchi machines. I tried to upload an image to show you, but was unable to get it uploaded. But you will have no problem finding a detailed image online either of the 3205 or one that is very similar.

Necchi royal series
I agree there is something wrong with the necchi royal. you didn't say what the model number is, I would suggest taking the machine to a repair shop that fixes necchi sewing machines and have them check the machine to see what's wrong with it,, it may be just something minor, I also have a necchi royal myself and they are good machines.
