SOURCE: I purchased an Elna 7000

I'm assuming that this is a generic style walking foot for low shank machines and it will fit your Elna?
To attach it, you will see a long lever arm at the front of the foot and the little curved bracket at the back of the foot.

Remove your usual foot and the clip on foot holder by undoing the thumb screw. Now fit the walking foot on instead by putting the lever arm around the needle bar and the curved bracket around the pressure bar and then putting the thumb screw back into place and screw up tight to hold the foot in place. Now lower the pressure foot and manually wind your machine forward a few stitches. As the needle bar goes up and down, it should move the long lever arm too which works the walking foot teeth gripping the top layer of fabric with each stitch.

Trust this helps.

SOURCE: I have an elna airelectronic tsp machine & cannot thread bobbin. Please help

Firstly, have you got an Elna metal bobbin? it should be solid on the bottom and have 7 holes on top. It is essential that you always use it this way, wind it with the holes on top and load it into the bobbin holder the same way.

Have a look at the image above, you need to load the bobbin in and click the thread into the tension spring so it doesn't lift back out when you pull the thread upwards. There should be an audible click as it goes in.

If you can't get it right or this image is just too small, feel free to email me and I'll send you the image and talk you through it, I have a TSP machine too. [email protected].

Also, check my tip on bobbin winding here http://www.fixya.com/support/r10598580-winding_bobbin_correctly it is important to get a good even tension onto your bobbin as you wind the thread on, you may need to manually add some tension to the thread as it winds off the spool, as I've described in my tip. I sold these machines for Elna and customers would bring them in complaining of problems with their machine. Almost aways, it was the needle in backwards, bobbin upside down, thread/lint buildup in the bobbin race or badly wound bobbin that was the problem.

Hope this helps you Gaylene, but if not, please email, I may be able to send you the relevant manual pages.

Is there a straight stitch plate for jubilant. fabric gets sucked into plate at beginning of rows where I need to start at very edge to close straps for face masks

There is no straight stitch plate listed in the manual. Straight stitch selections list presser foot J. You might try increasing top thread tension.

In similar project type I've used masking tape over the top of the plate with success. Start by remove and reinserting bobbin so bobbin thread is out of the way. Put a long narrow strip of masking tape over center of needle plate (front to back). Take care not to interfere with feed dogs (why narrow tape is necessary). Then rotate hand wheel... needle penetrates tape and brings bobbin thread up through tape.

Have not embroidered with Elna Xquisite for very long time. Now I keep getting motor is not running turn of machine. we rpalced a fuse but it just keeps blasting

This machine requires maintenance at least once a year. If it’s been a long time, might need servicing before you can embroider. Check that your bobbin winder is not engaged. The belt may have slipped off. If it has the covers have to come off to put it back on.

Elna stitchcraft 4000 shows foot on the screen then no sewing

Check your owner's manual. There may be something in the troubleshooting section. It sounds to me like the machine is not ready to sew. Is the presser foot still raised? Is the presser foot attached correctly? Is the correct presser foot attached for the type of stitch selected? Is the bobbin winder activated?

I need to remove the bobbin extractor from my Elna Carina. I am using a walking foot and the extractor hangs down and interfers.

The spring that holds the bobbin extractor is probably stretched out causing this; as a short term fix, you could push it back up into the spring, then tape it there with masking tape. But ultimately, the spring will need to be replaced, an Elna service centre can do this simple repair. And by the way, the cute little Elna screwdriver that comes with your accessory kit can be used instead, the handle fits perfectly into the bobbin hole and can be used to remove the bobbin instead of the built in bobbin remover.

How do you adjust the tension control on an Elna lotus SP

The tension dial is on the front of the machine right above the needle. The higher the number, the tighter the tension is applied to the top thread. HINT: When threading the top thread, ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot throughout the entire threading process. This allows the thread to seat completely in the tension disk. Tension is correct when the top and bobbin threads meet in the middle of the fabric.

Just want a maintenance manual so I can oil my Elna 740 Excellence sewing machine. Emailed the company, but they tell me just to have it done with service visit once a year. I want to oil the machine...

The manual should show you how to clean out the rotary hook area by brushing it out with a little brush provided in your tool kit. It should also show you how to remove the bobbin case and clean under it. Important: if you haven't removed the bobbin case before, then please take photos beforre you start so you can get it back into the right position when you have cleaned underneath. There may be two red marks on the case and surround to match up but I couldn't actually get a close up image of this model to check this.

Here is image from my Janome 6500 manual for this procedure, it should be similar on your Elna 740.

There is probably also an oiling wick in the centre of rotary hook under the bobbin holder. Remove the needle plate, pressure foot and needle, then take out the bobbin and bobbin holder and underneath is a circular metal part with a hole/depression in the centre. Wick will be inside there, don't mess with it!!. Just brush the whole area out, removing the lint from the brush into your bin. Don't try to blow the lint out with compressed air either.

You can add a drop of good quality clear sewing machine oil to the wick every couple of months or so, but keeping the area clean is equally a good preventative measure.

Elna 2002 Sewing Machine

Can't get a manual for you but here's how to wind a bobbin.
Guide your thread from the spool holder to the bobbin thread tension device on the top left side of the machine.(That's the round assembly that is about 1/2 inch in diameter with a screw in the center of it.) Pull the thread in the front and wrap it to the back and continue towards the bobbin winder on the right side top. Wrap thread around the bobbin, place the bobbin on the spindle sticking up. Release the handwheel(either by pulling out on the center of the wheel or twisting on the center of the wheel). Press on the foot control. It should stop winding when it is full.
To thread the machine
all machines thread the same. TTN tension, take up, needle.
Beginning with the spool, guide the thread through the thread guides to the tension assembly. Pull the thread through the tension assembly and test it to make sure the tension is working correctly.
(To do this test, adjust your tension setting to normal or medium or 5 or something in the middle. Raise the presser foot and pull the thread through the tension. It should pull easily!! Lower the presser foot and pull the thread. It should pull noticeably harder.) If it passes this test, continue up through the take up lever, then down through the thread guides to the needle. Make sure your needle is fully inserted and turned the correct way. Flat side to the back and it threads front to back
