Some smoke detectors don't have a battery compartment they are called 10 year smokes which never last that long. Take off the wiring harness sometimes there is a door there to access the battery compartment, if there is not compartment check the sides of the unit for a pull out latch. If none of those exist you will have to buy a whole new unit, I would recommend staying away from a 10 year and get something replaceable.

HOW DO I REPLACE BATTERY ON FIREX FX1218

BATTERY REPLACEMENT Always turn off power to smoke alarm before replacing battery.
Replace battery at least once a year, or immediately when the low
battery signal sounds (a beep once per minute indicates low bat-
tery). Batteries should be replaced regularly as necessary, even
when the smoke alarm is receiving AC power.
Use only the following batteries as replacements in this smoke alarm: Eveready 216, 522, 1222, Duracell MN 1604, or Ultralife U9VL-J [Alkaline batteries 9Volt] DO NOT USE RECHARGEABLE
BATTERIES.

1. Turn off power to smoke alarm at main service panel.
2. Turn smoke alarm counter-clockwise to detach from mounting plate.
3. Gently pull down smoke alarm. Be careful not to separate wire
connections.
4. Pull out power plug from back of smoke alarm.
5. From back of smoke alarm, lift tab to open battery pocket door.
6. Remove battery from pocket. Disconnect and discard bad battery from battery connector.
7. Connect a fresh, 9-volt battery to connector. The battery will fit
only one way. Be sure battery connector is securely attached to
battery terminals.
8. Place battery into battery pocket.
9. Close battery pocket door. Push down until it snaps into place.
10. Replace connector plug. Connector will "snap" into place.
Gently tug connector to be sure it is attached properly.
11. Reattach smoke alarm to mounting plate by turning smoke
alarm clockwise until it snaps into plate.
12. Turn on power and test smoke alarm using Push-to-Test button

Smoke alarm won't quit beeping.

Check the date on the back of the smoke alarm. They need to be replaced about every 7 years. They also need to be cleaned once or twice a year, you can use a vacuum to do this. If they are older replace them.

How do I stop my hard wired smoke alarm from beeping?

Make sure that you use fresh alkaline batteries. I have noticed that these new units will not work properly on the less expensive, lower amperage battery. And once the voltage goes down a tad they will start to beep. Annoying and a PIA when you have lots of units in home.

How old is it? It may be telling you that it's no longer reliable and must be replaced.

Our hard wire smoke detector model i12060 just beeped really lound a few times and stopped, it glows green and flashes red every few minutes?

Change the 9V backup battery, with a new one.Push and hold the reset button for a minute or two for the alarm to to go off like about 30-40 sec. for the smoke detector to dectected the 9V backup battery power sourced. The green power LED light indicator will stop flashing also the beeping sounds too.

Home security alarm keeps beeping

Most wired-in smoke detectors work off of two sources of power, electric and battery. If the beeping occurs every 30 seconds or so it most likely means you need to replace the battery in the detector. On the other hand if by beeping you mean the alarm is going off, I would first try cleaning the unit with your vacuum. If that doesn't solve the problem then the next step would be to replace the unit. Hope this helps.

My kidde smoke and carbon monoxide alarm keeps beeping and saying low battery and i don't have a manual how do i open it so i can change the battery?

You will need to remove the unit from the ceiling to reveal the battery compartment on the back. It should just need to be rotated counter clockwise a small amount and will then come loose from the bracket. When installing a new battey be sure to press the battery reminder finger down into the battery compartment or the battery door will not close. Call the Kidde (pronounced kid-a) hotline if you have problems 1.800.880.6788

If after replacing the battery the alarm is still beeping, the smoke alarm is bad and needs to be replaced. Hope this answers your question. Best of luck!
