SOURCE: Dacor Microwave

Quite often this is due to grease or food particles stuck to the inside of the oven or stuck on or behind the waveguide cover.

The waveguide cover is usually about the size of a playing card and often held in place by a plastic rivet.

It can be fragile, and the metal edges of the oven behind it can be sharp, so be careful!

The cover and the metal behind it should be cleaned with a mild, non-ammonia cleaner.

If the cavity metal of the oven is chipped or charred, it will have to be sanded smooth and clean.

Then you can apply some high-temperature appliance paint, available from places like Wal-Mart, Lowe's or Builder's Square.

If your waveguide cover is burned, it will need to be replaced.

The part would be much cheaper if you get the Sharp version (these ovens are made by Sharp) instead of the Dacor branded part.

The model DMT2420 is essentially the same as model R440D / R540D.

The Sharp part number is PCOVPB085MRP0 (zero on the end) and you can order Sharp parts from Tritronics at http://www.wehaveparts.com

SOURCE: Galanz Microwave Oven - Unable to disable child lock

Galanz's website seems to be useless. I tried finding information but kept being told "no data available." So while I can't tell you where to find the manual, here's something to try. Most microwaves get put into lock by pressing and holding one of the buttons for longer than normal, or by pressing one of the buttons several times in a row. Some ovens use the TIMER button. It won't be one of the number keys, but one of the function buttons. So start with a button, press and hold it for at least 5 seconds before you let go. If nothing happens then try another button. If that doesn't solve the problem, then try pressing each function key several times before moving on to the next one. If that still doesn't get it going, maybe a store in your area that sells Galanz will take a look at the book for you. The process should be the same for any similar model.

How do i change the bulb in the daewoo KOR6N35S?

Most microwaves require the removal of the case to get to the bulb. There's usually 6-8 along the back and sometimes 4 under the microwave along the side of the case.

My GE microwave is starting to arc, You can see the arcs on the plate (I believe it is the wave guide cover) on the right side interior. Burn marks are evident on teh plate. Is it the waveguide cover or...

Some units use a plastic or fiberglass cover over the wave guide where the microwaves are dumped into the oven cavity. If this cover gets coated with food/grease, or soaks up grease, it can arc, or catch fire. If unit is still operating properly otherwise, I would suggest replacing the cover. You need to inspect the wave guide, also, to make sure it is still intact, and there are no cracks in it that would allow microwave radiation to escape.

I have a sharp microwave convection oven model R-H93 and when I turn it on for only 3 seconds the light from the wave guide cove blinks viiolently and the who oven makes a loud electrical sound and a...

Quite often this is due to grease or food particles stuck somewhere in the cavity of the oven or stuck on or behind the waveguide cover.

The waveguide cover (also called a spatter shield) is usually about the size of a playing card and often held in place by a plastic rivet.

It can be fragile, and the metal edges of the oven behind it can be sharp, so be careful!

The cover and the metal behind it should be cleaned with a mild, non-ammonia cleaner.

If the metal of the cavity is chipped or charred, you need to clean it, sand it shiny, then clean it squeaky clean again.

Then you can get high temperature appliance paint in spray or brush-on form from local appliance part stores or places like Wal-Mart and Lowe's.

I would suggest you let it dry overnight with the door open before using the oven.

If your waveguide cover is burned, it will need to be replaced.

It provides critical protection for the magnetron.

This morning, while running the microwave, an interior cover overheated and scorched/burned. There is a hole in the upper right interior, where I believe the micro waves come out. This is a squarish...

That is called the waveguide cover and it is there to stop moisture, steam and food particle from entering the magnetron or aerial and destroy the component parts.
There are spares available through Philips Agents or online from ebay or espares etc.
It is fairly innexpensive but essential!

How do you install the wave guide cover ? [email protected]

Wave guide covers normally fix with one screw or plastic clip. They fit inside the cavity sometimes clip in and stop food particles contaminating the magnetron or aerial.

Micro Wave Daewoo

It sounds like maybe what you're referring to is the splatter shield or waveguide cover? The job of the waveguide cover is to protect the waveguide (opening) and the magnetron from buildup of food particles and grease. When the grease and food particles build up on and behind the cover, they will carbonize and arc - and maybe even flame up! The solution is to clean it and keep it clean - but if it's too dirty or is burned, it must be replaced. Sometimes it's necessary to remove the cover to clean both sides of it, and to clean the edges of the opening it covers. It is sometimes held in place with a small plastic rivet (or screw) and once that is removed, the cover will slide over a little then drop down. Be VERY careful not to get cut on the potentially sharp edges of the opening, and do not spray anything into the opening. Apply an alcohol-based cleaner (such as the purple kind) and /or gentle scouring powder to a cloth or paper towel and carefully wipe it out, then when it's dry, reinstall the cover and the rivet. I suggest to my customers that they NEVER use any ammonia-based cleaner (like the blue stuff) on a microwave, since the ammonia will crack and distort polycarbonate plastics.
