You need to lift the lid. 2 clips located to the right and left push in with a putty knife and pull up on the lid. take the tub ring off. next take the grey ring off of the top of the basket there are three clips holding it to the basket push in and pull up. next tack the cap off the wash plate next you will see 5/16 inch bolts remove them. take them completly out before you remove the wash plate or they may fall into the holes and you will not be a happy camper. because the only way to get the basket off is with a spanner wrench which is a specialty tool.

Kenmore Calypso washer, has debrise and clothing

1. UNPLUG THE WASHER.

2. Open the washer top. Look along the front seam of the washer where the top meets the front. There are a couple of retaining clips (about 2" in from each side) that you will need to push in on with a putty knife while gently lifting up on the top to get the top to release. Carefully open the top and lay it back in a resting position. Make sure you support the lid so it doesn't fall open when you tilt the top back. NOTE: I would recommend using duct tape to keep the lid closed and gently place the top against a wall for support. Use a towel between the cabinet and wall to prevent any damage to painted surfaces. This also reduces the strain on the top panel supports.

3. Remove the tub ring. This is the plastic donut shaped ring that sits on top of the wash tub. There will be a tab on either side of the outer tub near the back that you can use a screwdriver to release the tub ring. The ring is filled with fluid and is used to balance the tub. So, if you hear liquid sloshing around, this is normal.

4. Remove the wash plate center dome from the wash plate. This is the center cone on top of the wash plate. Use a flat blade screwdriver and insert it into any of the slots available along the sides. Gently pry until it pops off. I say "gently", but you may have to use a little muscle to get it to come off. Sometimes they stick. Once the center cone is removed there will be a series of nuts under it.

5. Remove the nuts and the main wash plate should lift out, exposing the inner wash plate. This is another cone shaped device located under the main wash plate. Remove the inner wash plate, using care not to damage the gasket under it. It is common for clothing to become tangled in the leveler or u-joint under this inner wash plate.

6. When all required maintenance is complete, reinstall the inner wash plate, ensuring the gasket is seated under it. The inner wash plate is keyed and should only install one way.

7. Insert the main wash plate and insert mounting bolts. Use a criss-cross pattern when tightening to ensure all bolts are tightened evenly and the gasket seats properly.

8. Reinstall the center dome on the wash plate by snapping it back in place.

9. Reinstall, the balance ring on the wash tub.

The following is a parts list of the most common items that may require replacement when you experience erratic motion of the wash plate, and/or clothing becoming damaged or entangled:

Wash Plate Dome
Main (Outer) Wash Plate
Inner Wash Plate
Leveler Assembly
Inner Wash Plate Seal
U-joint

Getting to the pump on whirlpool calypso

#
1

Disconnect your Kenmore Oasis washing machine from its power source. Make sure that your washer is unplugged before beginning to disassemble it.
#
2

Remove the screws that hold the control console to the top of your Oasis washer. In some Kenmore Oasis models, the two screws may be covered by plastic end caps. After removing the screws, set them aside until you are ready to replace them.
#
3

Flip the console up, back and out of the way.
4

Locate the cabinet clips on the top of your Kenmore Oasis washer. These clips are located toward the back of the washer top and would be hidden by the console if it were not currently flipped up.
#
5

Slide your screwdriver underneath the metal cabinet clips. Wiggle the screwdriver back and forth to gently pry the cabinet clips free.
#
6

Disconnect the group of colored wires that plug into the top of the washer from the control console. These wires control the lid switch on your Kenmore washing machine. To disconnect, grasp the white plastic clip and pull gently.
#
7

Remove the washing machine cabinet. Tilt the cabinet towards you, and then lift the entire cabinet up and off of its platform.

Calypso washer

You likely have clothing stuck under the wash plate. I received "out of balance" & "suds lock" errors & tried resolving the issue with extended spin and extra rinse cycles with the same results you have describe "not going below 7 min left in cycle". Thinking I had a clogged drainage hose, I removed the back panel after hose disconnection and "snaked" drainage hose - had problem here once before. Some lint here again but not enough to cause problem I reasoned, then I move to the basket area. Remove the plastic cover in the middle over the wash plate with a flat head screw driver by pressing in on indented tabs. Once removed, use a 10mm socket & ratchet to remove wash plate. I had three pieces of laundry underneath, 2 socks, & a microfiber runner's tank top. I concluded this to be the major problem caused by the small items entering in the gap in the rubber ring around the wash plate. This gap has increased over time by the ring's shrinkage. I am applying silicone to close this gap, but will also use a mesh laundry bag for smaller items in the future. Also recheck the leveling of the machine - mine was off considerably. Once I reassembled the wash plate & hose connections, the machine began working properly. No doubt, this design was not well thought through.

The wash plate (or nunater) can be removed by following these instructions. It may seem like a lot, but the wash plate will not come out of the tub unless you follow the necessary steps: 1. UNPLUG THE WASHER. 2. Open the washer top. Look along the front seam of the washer where the top meets the front. There are a couple of retaining clips (about 2" in from each side) that you will need to push in on with a putty knife while gently lifting up on the top to get the top to release. Carefully open the top and lay it back against the wall in a resting position. Make sure you support the lid so it doesn't fall open when you tilt the top back. 4. Remove the center cone from the wash plate. Use a flat blade screwdriver and insert it into any of the slots available along the sides. Gently pry until it pops off. I say "gently", but you may have to use a little muscle to get it to come off. Sometimes they stick. Once the center cone is removed there will be a series of nuts under it. 5. Remove the nuts and the wash plate should lift out. Be careful not to damage the gasket under it. Your clothing is probably tangled in the leveler under the wash plate. This leveler should have a key on it. The wash plate will only go back in with this key mating to a slot on it. So, remember how you took it off. In addition, when putting the wash plate back on, make sure you tighten the nuts in a cross pattern and evenly tighten them as you go. This will ensure the gasket seats properly. Good luck to you and I hope this helps you. PS Don't forget to put the tub ring back in.
