Turned on the TV 3 weeks ago, has sound but no picture. replace every cable, and it still doesn't work. Theres no menu or anything. Since it was out of warranty just a couple months over a year, we call a repair man and what was the problem. When he replace the mainboard, still didn't work, and he said it's the main board attach to the panel, which cost around 2 grand. is there any way to fix it? because I do not want to pay which cost to buy a new TV. I will never buy a Samsung TV product again.
It's been a while people but I finally fix it my self. I order the Controller board from a website, took a month to get here, pop it in and it work. Now I'm happy, hope it doesn't break again ;p

I think I have found out why we all have a no picture problem. Having dealt with this issue for the past 5 months (off and on) and replacing everything possible ie power supply module power supply switch mother board t-con and now finally the panel itself. The tv is due back this afternoon but i am not optimistic. The tv will work fine in the repair shop but when home it goes out for days at a time. I have found that when the humidity is 35% or higher I will lose the picture. (No I am not blessed with central air like a repair shop) If I operate a de-humidifier and get the humidity down to 25% or less and then turn on the TV it works fine. I was only doing this when it was damp or raining outside. I tried to explain this to the repair facility and I was told "we've replaced everything except the panel so that's what it has to be. Duh...here's an idea. Why don't you track down the problem while the humidity is above 35% instead of replacing things you think MIGHT be causing the problem so you won't have to hear me call you again and say my set is still not working. By the way my set is a Samsung LN-T4661F.
I hope this helps someone so they do not go through what I have gone thru...good luckI think I have found out why we all have a no picture problem. I have a Samsung LN-S4692D that the picture is black but has sound. I can see a faint picture if I shine a flashlight at the side of the screen. Does this sound like a T CON problem or a backlight problem? If it is a backlight problem would you replace the back light inverter (Part# 120V46W2B) or would it be a differet part?

The T-Con board fixes those sets where the backlights are fine. If
replacing the T-Con did not fix your set, it is probably the backlight
that is bad. Try checking for a faint picture in a dark room.
Before you give up..call samsung directly, they are very consumer oriented and if it is only a couple months out of warranty you might get them to repair it,, 1 800 samsung

Please check in dark room condition if you can see the light come up in the background of the tv LCD. If you can see light it would be a T-Con board or main board problem. I think those tv had some issues with the T-con board. Search results for ln s4692d
first guess would be the inverter circuit board. If you decide to replace it your self, please be carefull as there is hight voltage on this part. All connections should be done with the tv disconnected from outlet. Search results for LN S4692D
Hello,
I have a question which video inputs are you using for your DVD and Wii connections? The reason I ask is because this sounds like video distortion cuased by noise. If possible can you send a picture of the screen when it has this problem and send which video ports are being used?
If it is noise in the video you may have a saw filter problem, or a decoupling issue. In any event I'll know more once you send those pictures and which inputs you are using for your DVD and Wii.
Thank you,

If your TV has a 46 inch screen then the model must be LNS4692D not 4092D.
I recently had the exact same problem with my LNS4692D after 30 months of use. It was indeed the A/S T CON board that caused the problem. I ordered a board from partstore.com and replaced it myself. The TV is now working as it should. Saved $500 to $600 by doing the work. I documented the repairs, complete with pictures in a MS Word document but I dont think I can post it here. Replacing the board was not too difficult but it should not be attempted by someone with no experience at all in these matters.
yes its a cable box problem, find the channel you are having more problems with, press guide in the cable box remote and you will see how the box where the video is will still have the problem and the guide with channels info its going to be clean,
100% weak signal
