If you turn the device off, when you plug it into your computer, it should show up as a removable drive and you should be able to use standard file commands to load, copy, delete, etc.

My ipod not recognized by itunes in order to reinstall the software

Connections b> The USB cable must be securely connected both to the iPod and to the selected USB port on the computer. Reattach the cable at both ends, and click "Computer" in the start menu to see if the iPod is shown connected to the drive for that USB port. b> Drivers b> If the drivers of the computer responsible for the USB interface are out of date, malfunctioning or incorrectly installed, that may also cause the iPod to not be recognized by the computer. If this is the case, the device may not appear in iTunes and there may be an exclamation point next to the device in Device Manager. b> Software b> The latest version of iTunes is recommended to best communicate with the various models of iPod. Go to the iTunes website or click "Help" and "Check for Updates" in iTunes to install the most recent update. Further, the computer must be running Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 for PCs, or OS X v.10.4.11 or later for Macs. b> Battery b> The iPod's battery must have sufficient charge to be recognized in iTunes; charge it either via USB connection or another power source if the indicator shows a low battery. Once the battery has charged, try to connect the iPod to the computer via USB cable again.

I bought a Sylvania SMPK8854B MP3 player, but when i plug it in to my computer is says that the device is malfunctioning, but i just got it. and i didn't get any cd to install the software for this and...

Use an USB hub to make your connection. The USB controller puts out half an amp at 5VDC. The more things you have plugged in, sucking up that little bit of power, the more likely the next thing plugged in will overload the buss. A powered USB hub will give you the power you need to work with this unit.

How to put msic on it

Hi,
Install the Windows driver included in the product package before connecting your Sylvania MP3 player. Insert the included driver CD into your CD-ROM drive and run the setup file if it does not load automatically. This driver makes sure your computer can recognize and operate the Sylvania MP3 player.
  • 2 Insert one end of the USB cable into the USB port on the Sylvania MP3 player.
  • 3 Insert the other end of the same USB cable into the USB port on the computer.
  • 4 Wait for the computer to recognize the Sylvania MP3 player as a connected device. Open your file manager or browser to locate the Sylvania MP3 player as a drive or connected device if your computer does not prompt you automatically.
  • 5 Open the file folder containing the MP3 or WMA digital music files you wish to download to your Sylvania MP3 player.
  • 6 Drag and drop the file or folder icons of your desired digital music onto the Sylvania MP3 player device icon. Drag and drop the digital music into open folders within the Sylvania MP3 player device icon as well.

Sony Walkman not connecting to computer

I had a similar problem (my computer uses Windows XP) - Sony Walkman beeps a couple times when I insert the USB Cable that connects it, like it is connecting, but it does not charge or is not found by Windows Media Player. In my case, the way I fixed it was to:
    1, Go into Control Panel
    2. Double Click 'System' ICON
    3. Select Hardware Tab
    4. Select Device Manager
    5. Select 'View' at the Top
    6. 'Devices by Type' AND 'Show Hidden Devices' should be selected
    7. 'Scroll down to 'Portable Devices' and open it up.
    8. My Sony Walkman was there with and Exclamtion point ( ! ) in a yellow circle,
    9. Right Click on this yellow exclamation point.
    10, Select 'UNINSTALL'
    11. Once the computer says 'Device has been Uninstalled, Disconnect your Walkman's USB cable then reconnect.
    12. At this point, my Walkman was recognized by my computer, started charging, and was recognized by Windows Media Player

    Hope this helps

I have a sylvania mp3 player i wanna put music on it how do i do that have no instructions for it model number is smpk8854b if that helps

Usually when the player is connected to a PC, it will automatically recognize the unit as a generic external storage device (you should get a "hardware connected" message). If your computer does not automatically open a window that will allow you to have access to the units' internal memory, you can access it through "My Computer" (it should be recognized as a drive - e.g. E:, F:, etc.). After that, putting music on the mp3 player is a matter of copy and pasting the files from the computer's hard drive to the players' memory. Just make sure the music is in the mp3 or wma format before copying it.
