Essick 1208 has F fill light that will not go away. This causes the fan to shut down and also will not allow adjustments to humidity settings. Ideas?

If the light your referring to is the indicator for the bucket to need emptying , this is a very common fault to have on lots of dehumidifiers , its caused by the float sensor in the bucket to b slightly out of place , as it senses using a magnet to trigger a hidden switch , id look carefully at float and id bet its just not exactly right sitting in its slot to pivot on

Testimonial: "Sorry for the miscommunication. The Essick 1208 is a Humidifer, not the opposite. It keeps telling me to fill it, then it turns itself off, even though the reservoir is full. I have replaced the filters and cleaned the unit thoroughly. I am suspecting a sensor.."

One more comment: I went ahead and bypassed the micro-switch that transmits the float message of F. Now it works perfectly. .... (success)........

How did you bypass the micro-switch? I'm having the same problem.

I had the same problem. I took an index card to make the switch area larger. Just fold an index card tape and slide over the switch contact area. Bad design on this.

I ended up getting the unit disassembled, and then jumpered out the microswitch. I wanted to install a new one, but the Essick company would not sell it separately.

Contrary to the owner's manual, my Aircare (Valiant) Humidifier HD1409 appears to have four (4) fan settings: 1, 2, 3, and "A". Can anyone tell me what "A" setting does?

From what you've described, it seems that the "A" setting may be a special or additional mode of operation. It could be an "Auto" or "Adaptive" setting that adjusts the fan speed based on the humidity level in the room, or it could be a specific function designed for a certain type of room. I recommend checking the owner's manual or contacting the manufacturer directly to find out more information about the specific function of the "A" setting on your Aircare (Valiant) Humidifier HD1409.

Just purchased Model 831000. Put into service, three speed fan doesn't work. just one speed. Flashes F then back to humidity number and back to F. Do I have a defective unit? Essick Air humidifier.

I am battling the same trouble with this. I have re-booted the unit several times, and it is not a panacea. I am currently working on it, and will report here my findings.

Clean the fan blades

Don't use a hose, it will rust the motor and bearings.

if the blades are metal, and the unit is detached from the furnace. Try carburator cleaner or brake cleaner - out doors away from flames. Also, rotate so no solvents get to the bearings and wash away he lubricants. The solvent evaporates quickly but it will take a minute so don't be too impatient to get to the next blade.

If they are just dusty, and you don't want to dismount the unit, try some canned air - office stores carry this for cleaning keyboards and such. To get a really good stream, turn the can upside down and spray. The liquid propellant will come out and makes a really good cleaner. It will be cold cold cold as it evaporates and some ice will form if the humidity is high enough.

Effectiveness will depend on what is causing the dust to stick to the blades - oil film, soot from wood/coil/fuel oil and cigarette smoke are difficult.

It would seem I can't get my humidifier to work.It is a Essick Air ED11800.I have got it against a interior wall away from any heating vents, changed the filter, and set the humidity level at 60%,ran it for...

If you are using large amounts of water and it is not leaking anywhere than I would be inclined to think that your humidity indicator is not correct. Do you notice any differences since you have been using it,such as less static electricity, skin and hair not as dry as usual or house plants looking better if you have any. Also not knowing what area you live in I don't have any idea what your normal atmospheric temperature or humidity are. Other factors to consider is how well your house is insulated, number of doors and windows and how many times doors are opened. Without knowing these things your humidifier may be doing all it can. Hope this is of some help.Thank

The fan blows but the humidified air stops after 2 seconds?

This is an old post, but you can make sure the humidity adjustment is full high. Perhaps it is defective or possibly, the environment is as humid as the high setting will allow.
