I think the red blinking light is a fault, normally should be a green flashing light while charging.
could be either one. Have you tried another battery? If not I would recommend taking BOTH in for inspection. They have a scanner that can detect if the battery has a problem. If your warranty has expired, you're best off buying a new drill. Replacing batteries will quickly add up to the cost of a new drill.
I know they cost a lot more, but, if you want something that will last a lot longer, look at a Milwaukee, DeWalt, Makita, Bosch, Hitachi for your replacement. Milwaukee actually guarantees their LiIon batteries will last 1,000 charges or longer.
