There is nothing on the back that can be removed "without tools" as it says in manual
Just take a look at the back of your set , you will see where the stand is mounted , there should be 2 or 3 screws that should hold the stand in place , remove them and the stand should pull out ! remove no other screws but the ones that are just above the stand .
Testimonial: "Yep, I see those and they are not typical screws. They are sunk in more than an inch and have no phillips or flat head to unscrew them with! The instruction manual does not mention this weird "screw" or driver needed to remove them. Thanks anyway :)"

You have to remove the back and you will see about four bolts that that need to be remove to disconnect the stand.
1) Carefully lay the front of the unit face down on a flat, cushioned surface such as a quilt or blanket. Leave the stand protruding over the edge of the surface.
Note:
Extreme care should always be used when removing the pedestal stand to avoid damage to the LCD panel.
2) Remove the jack pack cover on the back of the TV to expose the pedestal stand screws. The jack pack cover can be removed without tools.
3) Remove the five screws shown in the diagram below. This will allow removal of the pedestal stand.
4) Once you have removed all five screws holding the pedestal stand in place, remove the pedestal stand from the TV by sliding the pedestal stand a way from the TV (Remorve 5, 4mm or 5/32" Allen Bolts from back of TV.)
