There should be an option on the menu screen for the TV or if you are using one of this digital converter boxes, it will be on that menu. Look in the menu and under Channel and you should see add/delete or move option.
However, as you mentioned, usually when you run an auto-scan it is supposed to pick up what your antenna picks up and put them in order. It's especially annoying when it picks up a channel and its blank or no signal. The menu were created so you can delete those unwanted channels. Hope this helps.

Hi, my aunt lives in Scotland. She has a Bush TV, don't know the model. The numbers on her remote do not correspond with the channel she's searching for Eg, BBC 1 is 25 on the remote. Thanks, Shona

When retuning the TV make certain you select the right region or it will order the stations wrong. You should also be able to swap channels manually. Read the instructions carefully. If you have lost the manual you should be able to download a free PDF of it by searching for the TV model number on Google. I can't be more specific without a model number.

On my Techwood it as built in freeview but every other channel is right except bbc1 and bbc2 both channels say bbc wales,How do i get them back to bbc1 and bbc2 please PLEASE HELP.THANK YOU.

What you need to do is retune the TV, but when it is finished look at the regional settings. Or if the regional option is available before retuning, retune selecting your area so then you get normal BBC channels. It's likely that at the moment the channels for BBC are located at the very top end of the channel list say? - channel 800+.

You are clearly picking up signals from many transmitters. With regional settings you can change it to the area you live in.
But you will have to take into account how good your aerial is. Otherwise the signal quality will not be good on same transmitters. So the set may only suggest those with the best quality signals.
ITV stations might also change.
When done it will move the channels you mention to the top end of the guide, to 800+.

Note many HD channels have no regional options. For example here in Yorkshire we only get ITV Granada and not Yorkshire TV on the HD channel for ITV1. And BBC1HD does not show any programmes when local news comes on.

What is wrong with my tv

This could be too much signal thanks to the Freeview retunes going on. Your aerial is more sensitive at some frequencies, so there's more signal power higher up the frequency range. The signals for BBC and ITV are among the strongest ones broadcast. If they are now at a point on the aerial's range where they are too strong for the TV then the tuner will over-saturate. The result is the same as no signal.

A simple and inexpensive diagnosis tool is a variable attenuator. The MA1620 on this page is perfect for that job:
Splitters amplified splitters and attenuators

It will give you a way to reduce the signal level at one TV without affecting the other TVs in the house.

I've lost all programmes except BBC on my TV and retuning makes no difference. The other 3 TVs in the house are all functioning normally

I expect there is a tv aerial signal problem as depending on your area, bbc and itv use different frequencies and signal loss could be the problem.

Why do I get several 800 channels after retuning?

I think that you might be picking up extra stations that are duplicates of main stations. (I'm assuming you live in England now) such as BBC1 and BBC2. It goes to prove that you have a good signal if you can pick up several transmitters.

Cannot tune all digital cahnnels on Sharp aquos

Start by doing a factory settings/ defaults on the Sharp rather than a normal automatic retune. This should then be ok. You need to empty the existing presets first so it will find the new type of signal BBC is now using.
If still not working for BBC1 +2 then look at whether you have too much aerial signal strength. (ie a booster/splitter that you could bypass)

After retuning no signal for any of BBC

If your aerial is slightly out of line with the transmitter it will skip some the first time around. I had the same problem and just retuned and they returned as normal.

My PVR has retuned (DSO)to the wrong transmitter. I receive signals from the Winter Hill transmitter and live in SW Cumbria. My Humax 9200T has retuned ok but my older 8000T has retuned to a transmitter in...

Not a complete solution but after much fruitless fiddling through the menu I eventually found that the programmes were actually there but under different channel numbers.
I searched a long way down the LIST of channels (on remote) The BBC1 channel I want is now 800 BBC. Selecting 1 on the remote still brings up BBC Wales.
This applies to my Humax 8000T PVR - I can't comment on other makes of Freeview box.
