i have sony kv 14 gmr1mk r2ks always shorted and the other 1 appear like a lightning in midle of screen.. kv 21gmr1mk when adjust the brigth and contras it shut down the picture and blinking..can u help me how to troubleshoot this problem? what remedy you sudgest..thank you...

Your symptoms sound like you have a problem in the pincushion circuit.
I would recommend you have a technician take a look at this, as this can be a tricky circuit to trouble shoot.

How to reset sony kv27V42 to factory settings ?
There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. It is an old model of 1994 and does not have service menu facility.

what your looking for is a switch inside the unit that will switch to FACTORY SERVICE MODE and then use your remote to make the settings . if Im correct this switch is usually located at the PC board attached to the picture tube . let me know if it helps
