My washing machine fills up with water but does not continue the wash cycle. Sometimes when you slam the lid the washer will continue the wash cycle to the end. Other times the washer stays filled up...

Sounds like the lid safety switch is either out of adjustment, or needs replacement.

Most washers will fill with the lid open, but no continue a cycle where the drum or agitator spin, unless it senses the lid is closed.

My Whirlpool ultimate II will fill up and then stop

The lid switch need to be replaced. You might try to lengthen the rod that pushes it down. You might try trimming lid bumpers with a razor blade to make the rod go down further.

WHDRR418G1WW WASHER WON'T AGITATE OR SPIN, NOT MAKING NOISES. FILLS AND DRAINS FINE.

sounds like you have a broken lid switch on the washer, maybe someone slammed the door or placed or stood on top of the washer, a broken lid switch won't allow washer to go into spin mode is a safety device so if is on spin cycle an someone sticks their hand it the machine stops an not breaks your hand.

broken lid swtich

good luck leave some feedback thanks!

Fills with water then stops

it sounds like the lid switch is going out if you lift the top of the washer you will see it in there this is a safety feature for homes with small children if your kids are all grown and gone you can connect the two wires going to that switch to bypass it otherwise any appliance parts store will have these switches in stock they are usually around $15

Water fill stops

Your lid switch is probably damaged or loose. Examine the lid switch on the right-hand side of the washer tub opening. There are two screws that hold the switch in place. Check to see if they are loose. In addtion, the lid should have a small plunger that depresses the switch when the lid is closed. Make sure it is intact and not broken. If the switch is tight and the plunger is intact, the switch has probably been damaged and needs to be replaced. If you have the type of washer that has no visible plunger and/or switch, the lid switch is locate in the rear on the left hand side and has a small arm attached to the lid that activates a contact when closed. Often this arm can get bent and will not engage the lid switch contacts. A simple adjustment (sometimes) can correct this. I've seen a lot of these switches where the casing on the switch separates and the contacts will not close. Slamming a washer lid is highly NOT recommended just for this very reason. The switch is an easy replacement and costs roughly $35. If youy post back with your model number I can research to find a part number for you. I will also give you step-by-step instructions on how to replace it. I hope this helps.

Whirlpool ultimate care II stops during cycle

THe most likely cause for this is either the lid switch or the timer itself sticking.
