Paul you might want to replace the spark plug, make sure the gap on the plug is correct, make sure there is oil in the machine, some have a safety switch when the oil is low. If you cant buy a new spark plug you can sand off the tip that is probably black and replace it in the machine

SOURCE: Ryobi string trimmer 32.1 what do mix gas and oil or just gas?

Ryobi trimmers I have had use a 32:1 oil mix. Just pick up a little bottle of Ryobi 2-cycle oil and read it to see that it will give a 32:1 mix in a gallon of gas. Pour it into a gallon of gas, and maybe a little fuel stabilizer too, shake it up and you should be good for the season.

SOURCE: weed wacker

check the fuek lines for hole and leaks, check the fuel filter and clean if necessary. remove the carbuerator and inspect the gasket; it should be soft and flexible, if it seems hard or brittle replace it. clean the carb with carb cleaner sray (available at any local auto parts store) and compressed air. make sure you get inside the small fuel rail holes. if that doesn't work have the carb repaired at a service center or replaced.

SOURCE: How to change the string

If it is a duel line trimmer then:

Cut two separate pieces of string, about 7 ft. each.

Stick the end of the line in the hole on the inside of spool.

Wind clockwise onto spool, putting the line that is closest to the ground on first.

Once you have winded this piece on, lock the last 4 inches of line through the slits on spool.

Repeat process for second piece of line, locking the last 4 inches in slot opposite the other locked in piece.

Put the spool on the trimmer, feeding the end of lines through either hole on trimmer.

Before you push the spool all the way on, pull the strings out of the locked position.

If it is a single line trimmer, just wind a single piece of string clockwise onto spool.

My Craftsman V20 battery powered weed-eater starts and stops after about 3 seconds. How can I fix this?

  • To fix a weed eater that won't start, check the fuel to ensure that you are using the correct gas-to-oil ratio for the weed eater. Then, you have to change the spark plug. After that, replace the fuel filter. Now, you need to review the starting process of the weed eater.

I have a RYOBI E530 Touch Start Push Button weed wacker. Model RY29550. I took it in for repair since the cord wouldn't recoil back in and was told to just use the batter/electric start. I do not...

Most Ryobi manuals are available on their site: http://www.ryobitools.com/discontinued_manuals/ . The direct link to the RY29550 manual is: http://www.ryobitools.com/product_promotion/discontinued_manuals/string_trimmers/RY29550_310_trilingual.pdf .

Are you sure of the model number? The RY29550 lists electric start with 12V battery for all models, no pull cord. It takes battery pack 130269012 and charger 140295003. This site has parts for the RY29550: http://www.ereplacementparts.com/ryobi-ry29550-string-trimmer-parts-c-7931_15633_15647.html .

I hope this helps.

i also have a ryobi weed wacker. if it is the same. you don"t have to remove the button. line up the 2 arrows one on wheel with bumpy edges and one by the button. you should see 2 holes feed a 2-3 foot piece of line into the hole the line comes out of for cutting and it should come out of a curved holw on the bottom by the button .tuck the end into a small round hole . pull line tight (tug on the section that you cut with). wind the string by turn the ring around the button. til desired length. if this doesn't work. google you model # and look for a manual (manual for ryobi weed wacker model # ------------.)
