SOURCE: Smeg F170P-5 Oven

Models with analogue/digital programmer feature a "DEMO" function which deactivates the heating elements while leaving the other functions unchanged. To activate it, simply press the bell (minute minder), - and + keys for 3/4 seconds. A confirmation beep will inform the user that the function is active. To deactivate it, simply repeat the same procedure. This worked for my Smeg SC399X-6.

Why does my oven thermometer read less than the temperature the oven is set at?

An oven doesn't go to the temp selected. That is the average temp. If you set it to 350, it may drop to 300, then to 400, but will maintain an average of 350. Without knowing your model #, it is hard to say. Some have anticipator (that anticipates the temp and controls the heater and the thermocouple that is trying to keep the temp steady. Some models have an adjustment at the oven switch (rear) that can be adjusted for temp up or down.

The actual temperature of my oven does not agree with what it says on the digital readout in the clock area. I have been told that you can adjust the reading of the clock, but I cannot find the service...

Press bake and set temp. to highest setting on some it's 500 on others it's 550 aftef setting to highest bake setting. Press and hold bake button until 00 is displayed, use up/down arrows to adjust in 5 degree incriments to plus/minus 35 dergees . ONce you've adjusted it push cancel/off button and you adjustment will be stored even if power loss and clock went out.
If your temp is more than 35 degrees off the clock needs to be replaced

Need to set clock on oven

Instructions
    • 1

Check the oven to ensure that it is off and that the timer isn't running. The buttons used to set the clock are the same buttons that adjust the oven, and you may end up making unintended adjustments to the oven.

    • 2

Press the "Clock" button to enter the clock setting mode. The LCD will show the current time set on the oven.

    • 3

Use the "Set Temp/Time +" or "Set Temp/Time -" buttons to adjust the clock to the current time. Depending on your model of stove you may need to use the "Hour," "Min" or the "Temp/Hour" up and down arrow buttons to set the time.

    • 4

Save the new clock setting by pressing the "Start" button. Depending on your stove model, you may need to press the "Clock" button a second time if the "Start" button does not work.

Changing the clock time

If you mean simply adjusting the 12 hour LED to the time of day...Push the area on the glass control panel printed "clock". Enter time of day by using same "buttons" you use to adjust oven temps, as in 1-2-0-5, which would be 12:05. then push clock once more. If you meant changing from 12 hour time to 24 hour time, that is complicated, takes two people, and is on page 30 of your owner's manual.

Lighted clock and controls intermittently not working. Oven still heats

HI thanks for the question. its a common problem with the clocks. first it goes a little dimmer. then a little more till it goes so dim you cant even see the temperature that you have in the oven. the clock has to be replaced. or. buy a cheap oven thermometer. and hang on the middle rack, and adjust the temp setting to match the oven temp . save a lot of money this way. thanks. please rate my answer. thanks

Oven light always on, no heat

probably the clock not set properly - you have the oven on automatic. switch off at mains, wait 5 mins and set the clock according to the manual. if the over-temp stat has operated, the oven goes dead
