Magnetrons generally should last about 2000 hours, but several factors can shorten that. If it's not OVER ten years old (from the purchase date or the date on the tag inside the unit) then the magnetron is still under warranty. From the owner's manual: "For the second through the tenth year from the date of original purchase "The magnetron tube, if the magnetron tube fails due to a defect in materials or workmanship. During this nine-year limited warranty, you will be responsible for any labor or in-home service costs. "For the above limited warranty: To avoid any trip charges, you must take the microwave oven to a General Electric Customer CareĀ® servicer and pick it up following service. In-home service is also available, but you must pay for the service technician?s travel costs to your home." GE Customer Service is here, and you can verify the warranty status and find your nearest authorized servicer. If you're sure the magnetron's bad, it's still under warranty, and you or a friend are handy, they will
send you the magnetron to do it yourself. Call them at 888-239-6832. Be persistent. You may have to speak with a supervisor. It does sound like the magnetron overheated and the magnetron's thermostat opened until it cooled down. An overheating magnetron can be due to:

operating oven without cover(s) in place
    wrong magnetron installed in oven
an old or otherwise failing magnetron
    cracked magnetron magnet
improper power line voltage (should be 110-125VAC)
foods low in moisture (popcorn & bacon, e.g. - add 1/2 cup of water in rear oven)
failed or inoperable cooling fan or hood vent exhaust fan
deteriorating foam weatherstripping seals in air ducts or on outside cover
blocked air vents (dust, animal nest debris, insufficient free air space behind & around oven, etc.)
clogged or greasy charcoal filter or grease filter
blocked duct in hood vent exhaustSince yours is a counter top model, there are less of those factors to worry about. When you hit Start to
microwave, do the inside light, cooling fan, and turntable all come on?

Sorry my Clarification Request came out as a single blob of a paragraph.

That's not how I typed it. I never write that way!

So I've pasted it here, but as a solution.

It is probably a bad magnetron inside the microwave. With it's age, it would be cheaper to purchase a new one than to get this repaired. The magnetrons will go bad after years of use.

Power failure on ge wes1130

Power being interuppted could be anything from a bad fuse , bad fuse holder, bad solder connections on the main board. Bad breaker in your panel. Start by plugging it into an outlet you know is on a different breaker than the on it is on now. See if it does the same thing. If it works ok, then problem with power to the other outlet. If it does the same thing problem inside of unit. PF is Power Failure, now we have to figure out why.

My microwave want cook

Hello

and/or circuit breakers, particularly in the case of recent power failure, and reset if necessary.

Unplug the microwave, wait 30 seconds and plug back in to the power supply to reset the microcomputer.

Open and close the microwave door firmly and press "Stop/Reset." Select a new cook time and press "Start."

Ensure a proper cooking temperature and/or time is chosen, as low cooking temperatures or short cooking times may prevent the microwave from heating food appropriately. Press "Power Level" to ensure the microwave is cooking at 100 percent power.

Contact an authorized service technician if the problem is still unresolved.

GE Spacemaker Microwave JVM1441 BH04 tripping circuit breaker

your power transformer for the magnetron could have a shorted primary power winding, the door safety interlock switch could be mis-adjusted,this normally blows the internal unit fuse,a shorted high voltage capacitor,or diode,a bare wire inside the unit, more than the microwave on that circuit or a weak circuit breaker in the house power panel

GE spacemaker Power goes off and clock needs resetting

Try going to the breaker box and shutting off the power to the microwave for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, turn back on and set the clock. This fixed my clock and turntable both. Apparently turning off the power resets the software in the clock.

My GE Spacesaver microwave is not working...no power at all.

Usually a Thermal protection (Like Circuit Breaker) this should be tested with Multi Tester. If this open, no Electrical Power goes to the Primary Winding of your High Voltage Transformer and will not power up your magnetron therefore no heat inside the Microwave Oven.

Kenmore Microwave Oven Sudden Power Reduction

I would be sure to check the microwave's outlet under a load.

One good way is to use a toaster or hair dryer for about a minute to see if they run at full power and run without their heating elements dimming.

If the power at the outlet is steady, I would suggest a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If it still fails to heat properly, I would say you have a failing magnetron, and it would just be a coincidence that the failure began after the new wiring was installed.

If you need to order the magnetron, Sears sells it for $73.13, but you can get it for $41.84 here.
