You need a special screwdriver to get those star shaped screws out. I would suggest going to a hardware store or their website and look for "Tamper-proof Torx" screwdrivers or bits. You are probable going to need either a #15 or a #20 bit to get those screws out. Normally there are no screws on the bottom that hold the side cover on unless they are actually on the side of the microwave. The front is held on by clips mounted on the cover itself, so you need to make sure you catch them when you put the cover back on. Good Luck!

Those are Torques screws with the anti tamper pins. These screw drivers are available at most hardware and tool supply stores.

Take the glass plate out, turn it up side down and see if you find 4 or more screws on the four corners of the bottom, but not the ones in the center of the chassis(metal sheet of the bottom) those are holding the fan and other eletronics.

One of the most common problems like the one you're having & is an inexpensive option to replace is the door switch, replace it and see if that helps. Should be about $10.00. If that doesn't fix your problem, buy a new micro for about $50.00

The problem is in the magnetron or the inverter board if under 7 years old. Cost to repair will be equal if not more than a new microwave oven.
