What brand and model number? It probably referred to Magnetron, not magnet, as I have never seen a sensor or test for the magnets themselves. If it is reading the door as not latched you may have a problem with a door switch or the arm from the door not pushing down on the switch properly to close the switch.
This is a microprocessor problem in the appliance. It can often be reset by unplugging the device, waiting 10 minutes and plugging it in again. If that doesn't work, you will probably have to replace the appliance (cost to buy a new one in usually a lot less than trying to get it repaired).
The
first thing I would suggest is a hard
reset. Unplug the unit for a
minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.
If that doesn't work,
leave it unplugged for about 5 minutes. If this scrambling is occurring a few seconds after you begin a microwave heating cycle, see this FixYa solution even if your model number is different.
