Windows XP at this point is very buggy due to lack of support
Try to access your unit in safe mode and see if it works
when powering on press constantly F8 then select safe mode
if you are able to get in - try to save your information
if unable to get in and still getting a blue screen it could be either a system failure or hardware failure

Testimonial: "it wont boot up in safe mode, what could the hardware error be? it was on the night before and then it just suddently stopped and started blue screening at launch of the OS"

SOURCE: dell latitude D610. Screen goes black. External Monitor OK.

Make sure you have not accidentally used the FN+F5 key
That combination sets the laptop to use an external display.

If using that does not give you a display take a small torch (flashlight if in USA) and shine it at an angle on the laptop screen.
If you can see any sort of picture you would be looking at replacement of some minor parts to the laptop screen

Hope this gives you the information you need. If not add any extra information you may have and lets see if we can FixYa

Dell latitude D610 vga drivers sites

Hi
All drivers for Windows XP for this laptop can be found here:
Product Support Dell US

If under the category heading you specify "video" then the list will give you 2 drivers - both in the form of executable files - which can be downloaded and installed onto the computer. One of the files is for the Intel graphics chipset, and the other for the ATI graphics chipset. You need to make sure of the chipset you have otherwise the drivers will not work properly, if at all.
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya

Fatal system error on my dell latitude D610 intel centrino

This sounds like a hard drive issue or windows has been corrupted, if you have a recovery disc try and reload your operational system, if that fails have the hardware tested for possible replacement.

Win98 drivers d610

Hi There,
Currently Dell offers no support for windows 98 on any of their products. The Latitude D610 laptop is specifically built for windows 2000/XP, therefor no drivers exist for outdated operating systems such as '98.
That's not to say, however, that you can't seek out windows '98 drivers for each specific component, which a lot of users have done.
In my opinion it would be much easier to install windows 2000 and download the drivers from the dell website instead.

When I start up my Dell Latitude D610, it will go throught the boot sequence, and imediatly after the microsoft windows XP loading screen is shown, a blue screen apears that goes by too quick to read. Then...

Pressand hold the key while powering the system on. This will run theDell Diagnostics. Another more intense diagnostic program is located on a DellCD that you should have received with your laptop. Look for one that has "Diagnostics and utilities" listed underthe "Contents". You will have to boot from that CD disk. To do this, power onyour laptop and tap the key to bring you to the "One time bootmenu". Insert the CD and then select CD/DVD drive and hit key. Select the "Run the 32 Bit DellDiagnostics". If the laptop runs the diagnostics without errors then you have a software issue. If it is a hardware issue (i.e. memory, hard drive) diagnostics will indicate faulty component.

My daughters computer is a dell latitude D610 notebook running Windows XP.....when powering up XP starts to load and then goes to a blank blue screen....Is there a restore disc or something i can download...

Hi. I provided you a link where to download the restore disk. Once you have downloaded the restore disk, here's the instruction on how to use the disk.

Instruction:

  • Backup all the data you want to keep on an external hard drive, flash drive, or rewritable CD. Resetting your Dell to factory defaults will erase all data currently on your computer.

  • 2

Insert the Recovery CD into your CD-ROM.

  • 3

    Reboot your computer.

  • 4

Watch the text in DOS carefully. When prompted to boot from your CD, do so.

  • 5

Choose System Restore and then follow the instructions presented. Once system recovery beings, it may take a few minutes. Once it's done, your system will reboot again.

  • 6

Remove the Recovery CD from your CD-ROM and store it carefully. Your system has been reset to the factory default.
