Tried to set up a password to set up on new Acer laptop but what ever i put in is not accepted, why?

plug in the Notebook to a power socket with your adapter. Power on the
Notebook and you will see the Acer splash
screen. Immediately press ALT and keep tapping F10 at the same time. It
will take you to a screen where you will see
"windows is loading files" or "starting acer recovery" it will ask you,
how do you want to restore?" choose
the option "restore to factory default" and click continue. It will go
through the restore process and within 15 - 20 minutes it should finish
the process. Your Notebook will be back to factory default settings.

You do know you can only re-install the OS if it is on your hard/ssd drive in the first place and only certain models have this function.
