you either need another Lamp which is very possible or Ballast Board. Ballast board is what turns Lamp on, pull back watch to see if there is a Ark coming from spark cap on Ballast board if so Lamp if not Ballast board call Mats for lamp 1-800-628-1118 OR Go to E-Bay for Lamp and Ballast Board Look under TV Parts After rereading your Post I think Lamp! Samsung OEM Had Alot of defective Lamps and do not hold up!

SOURCE: Samsung hln617w dlp tv won't turn on. Red temp

Had similar problem. Thought it was the lamp. Examined old lamp but it appeared to be good. Ordered a new one anyway. Changed the lamp but the TV screen would not come on. It would make the usual noise as it was going to come on normally but it would cycle 3 times & then turn off. The LED lights in the front panel would indicate a defective lamp. Then read about the ballast. Changed the ballast & still same problem. Tried starting the TV without the lamp installed & noticed that the color wheel did not spin. Removed old color wheel & discovered it was broken. This appears to be the cause of all of my problems. I wish I new earlier of the test-turn on the TV without the lamp being installed & check to see if the color wheel is spinning. Would have save money on the lamp & ballast.

SOURCE: Samsung HLS4266 DLP tv.

Hi,

In all likelihood then the ballast is failing, this is very easy to replace just a little board attached to the lamp by a couple of wires, just when you remove lower bottom have a look at the lamp wires and you wont go far wrong it's available here

http://www.partstore.com/Part/Samsung/Samsung/BP4700037A/New.aspx?ModelMfgName=Samsung&ModelBrandName=Samsung&ModelNumber=HLS4266WX

The part is in that link highlighted in my last post just click on it and it will take you to the supplier, if you cant fit it yourself a technician shouldnt charge more than $100 for the housecall and fitting unfortunately there are a lot that want $150 just to turn up so if you could get someone whos practical this is very easy to do.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

First when I turn it on it's okay for a few minutes ,then it starts to flicker and shuts off.Three lights are on Standby/Temp/Lamp Temp and Lamp lights are blinking.

Try unplugging the TV. Remove the back panel and vacuum the dust out. Sounds like the unit may be overheating and the thermal shutoff is operating to prevent fire. Be careful not to move the projection lenses out of alignment. It is also a good time to clean those lenses carefully. It will improve your picture a lot.

Why does my samsung 61" DLP Standby/Temp and Lamp light flashes 29

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
Blinking codes details to many popular brand TVs are given. Surf the site with patience.

Tv keeps shutting itself off. the power button will then begin flashing in green lighting the words"timer and lamp' and in red letters the word "standby". i can press the power button to turn the tv back...

The first thing to try is a new lamp. There should be an orange or red tag on the left side of your set that has the lamp number on it. The number will look something likr BP96-01434A. It probably won't be this exact number but will have that sort of format. Google "DLP lamp" and you'll find numerous sites that sell lamps. Shop around for the best price.

Samsung dlp hls6186w, picture has darkened, could it be the lamp or is it the colour wheel??... tv is making sounds...I thought it was the fan, the fan looks okay??? It also shuts down once and a while...

The lamp is the only thing that will cause the picture to go darker. According to the model you have the lamp part number is BP96-01472A. The noise you hear could possibly be the color wheel itself. The way to tell is when you turn off the TV the lamp stays on for about 10 seconds longer. Once the lamp shuts off if that noise goes away then it is a bad color wheel. Any noises past that would be a fan. Please take a moment to rate my answer. Thanks...

I would suspect the lamp first as they can cause intermittent shut down issues.

you have the same problem I have. The problem is fixed by changing the new light bulb. The problem appears again after 1500 hours of use. You can keep buying new light bulbs or avoid it by not buying another Samsung TV.
