Sounds like a bad color wheel----remove lamp---the wheel faces it--look for missing pieces or the wheel shattered---these are known for the wheel making a loud high pitched sound or even a grinding sound if the wheel shatters.if wheel bad You Tube has video instructions for replacing it---seen several people able to do this themselves in about a hour. Google the model number to ("color wheel") to locate a replacement on the internet.10_24_2012_4_08_47_pm.jpg

Samsung Model SP61K3HXX/XSA,

Hi,

This is a VERY COMMON problem on these sets. You could google and you would be shocked that how many people actually face this problem. This isn't a problem with Samsung, it is for almost all manufacturer's including Sony.
I'm afraid then its not very good news you have a failed light engine

The options are for either the DMD board (part of the light engine) to be replaced however this is very difficult to align and in any case the DMD board is very expensive or the whole light engine to be despatched to a re-build company like www.tristatemodule.com usually for under $300 however total cost for a tech to do could be $600-$1000.

If is under warranty, they would replace it without any charges. However, if it is out of warranty, call Samsung and confirm , if they have any recall for the same. If not, try to get some discount on the same as many people have been successful in getting the same.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Tv keeps shutting itself off. the power button

The first thing to try is a new lamp. There should be an orange or red tag on the left side of your set that has the lamp number on it. The number will look something likr BP96-01434A. It probably won't be this exact number but will have that sort of format. Google "DLP lamp" and you'll find numerous sites that sell lamps. Shop around for the best price.

I AM GETTING A MESSAGE ON MY SCREEN TELLING ME TO CHECK(FAN NO.2)

New TVs have fans to help cool their circuitry. Sounds like your fan #2 is bad. Remove the back which means removeing all the screws around the perimeter as well as in the middle and don't forget the ones in the small signal area. When the back is off you should be able to see the problem, aka, lots of dirt around the fans. Move the unit to the outdoors and using an air hose blow all the dirt out of the unit.

Once this is done you should go to http://www.encompass.com and put in your model number. Do a search for a fan. If you believe that this is the part you need order it. I suspect that all the fans are the same.

Remove and replace fan number two and you should be able to reinstall the unit. Let me know if you need more help.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the generous rating.

There is a line, like a shadow on the right side

Your TV uses a "Light Tunnel". A part which has various filters to create the proper "color" of light needed to produce the picture. Sometimes, one of these filters slips, causing a shadow to appear in a corner or along an edge. The appearance is this defect is more of a shadow and does not have a sharp, defined edge (like a letterbox image would). You can replace the entire light engine to repair this or just replace the light tunnel. The light tunnel repair is much more difficult... I would recommend a service call, as this is not a simple procedure. I hope this helps.

MY SAMSUNG TV SWITCHES OFF BY IT SELF

Good day sir/maam, the swiching off thing can be caused by the setup of the sleep mode. check your remote and set the sleep mode to off.
It could also be a failure of the switching power supply board. This symptom needs to be checked by an authorized service service center, better call or visit your local dealer, for proper advice on your TV. Hope this helps.

The light is flashing on the lamp light?

Most likely you need to replace the lamp. How long has it been since you replaced the lamp? There are more components involved in the lamp circuit, but the lamp is the first thing to check.

I hope that this helps you, if not please respond to this post.
