Electronic drum I have got an electric drum for my grandson but cannot retain a set system to get required drum sound. The drum is marked DD-50 but does not seem to be a Yamaha type. Does anybody know how to fix the setting or know where to get a manual for download? I would attach a photo but not sure how to do it! Keith

SOURCE: bought a new electronic drum

Double check and make sure all the chords are plugged into the control box for your set. Most electronic drum sets require the use of headphones or some sort of PA system to hear whats being played. If you could expand a bit on the description of your problem, I should be able to help more.

SOURCE: i want to connect my YAMAHA DTXPRESS IV SPECIAL to my PC

Any pro-audio interface with a midi input would do the trick. There are numerous products out there that offer this. You can get a simple usb midi interface, and connect the Yamaha up with a midi cable running from the midi out of the drum module to the nidi in of the interface.

one of the simpler ones:...

SOURCE: The Bass Drum Pedal of our Yamaha DTXplorer

Go to one of the suppliers. Most of them will have photos of the bass pedal assembly and if you can enlarge the photo, you should be able to figure how to assemble it.

Expect to find washers on shafts between things that rub.

The owners manual at:

http://yamahadtxplorer.com/yamaha-dtxplorer-owners-manual/

Check on page 9 for example. While the photo isn't the greatest you can see where the spring is.

Very low volume on all drums.

I don't think there is anything wrong, it has a very low line level output intentionally. This is to minimize distortion to an amp or mixer. Mine is the same and also a different brand. It is actually made so you could play it through a stereo without damaging it.

Yamaha DD-65 pad 2 has lost its sensetivety, if i hit it really hard it works, but when tapping it lightly like i can with the other pads, it does not sound. I have only just bought it second hand so...

There is a setting to use that sets for using either sticks or by hands. If a single pad is thee problem, likely the sensor has come loose. Most of these use a piezo disc pickup and this may have separated from the pad. Open unit carefully and check for this visually. If separated, try to analyze what type adhesive was used. It is likely a contact cement. If so, clean surfaces of residue and use contact cement following the direction. Let dry overnight per the label on the cement. Be careful of the cables in the unit when opening. Keep track of which screws go where. They sometimes have different lengths and threads.

It appears that you have to select a "Kit" of drums when using the external triggers. It appears that the volume level for the kit and that for each voice MAY all have to be set, especially after new firmware download. Read manual about KIT volume level and selecting voice and volume level for those. Manual is NOT very clear about these things and you have to try them as this is where the probllem is.

I have the Simmons SD7PK. It sounds as though the speakers to my amp or through our PA system are busted. What could be causing this?

First thing is to verify your sound system is OK by running program material such as a CD at normal levels through it. If it is OK then you need to consider if your drum set is overdriving your sound system. Drums generate high pulses and can easily saturate PA systems. First thing here is to connect headphones to your drum set and listen how the set sounds via headphones. If both these tests pass muster, then your PA system may be too small to handle the drum audio. In that case, get at least a 15 inch powered monitor, preferably bi-amped to run the drums through.

I have an electric triggered bass drum pad, and it will not trigger the sound through the machine unless I practically slam the pad the model is a KP65 bass drum pad, on a yahmaha DTXpressIV

Test the pad driving a different sound... If the pad is weak, the sensor probably came loose in it... They are a piezo disc usually like in older musical cards.

Some of the triggers have an adjustment pot that is very tender... ALSO there usually is a setting in the machine for sensitivity.

If this has just gone bad, it is likely the sensor came loose... repairable if one opens the pad...
