My ge side by side refigerator freezer is not cooling correctly.

For starters a year and model number would be helpful. Do you have turn dials to contol temp of freezer and fridge or electonic pushbuttons? The fridges with manual rotating dials use a "dampner" between the freezer and fridge section. In short the freezer evap fan blows air in the freezer but also has a passage from the freezer to the fridge section which aloows a controled amount of air from the feezer section to cool the fridge section. IThis passage may be obstructed by ice build up or some other blockage. Units prior to 2002 are not controled by circuit boards and the ones after 2002 are. For more specific help give me the GE fridge model please.

if the refigerator and the freezer are warm,i'd have to say you have a bad computer board,they go on the ge's all the time,let me know if there's ice on the back wall inside the freezer or is it warm in both sides,also send the model number,it should be on the right side wall in the fridge up near the ceiling or if it's older it could be down near the bottom hindge on the fridge door

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge.The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

If there is no frost , on the inside rear freezer wall ,

that would be a valid check
but with this model i would look more twords you thermister in the refer, if its maintiaing a constant temp, but just outta temp, its more than likely you thermistor is going bad

Hi, this problem is going to be with the running thermostat. It has gone bad and stays open which in turn will keep the compressor running continually. It can normally be located in the control panel inside the fridge. Locate the thermostat and replace it. If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to comment again. Good Luck!! the dampener door in the fresh food is more then likely broke . allowing air in to the fresh food.

Sounds as tho your compressor is bad if it is still under warrenty take it to the place of purchase.
