Elna problems my machine will not read the card it shows me a picture of turning off/on button and shows removing the card adapter devise. how do I get the machine to read the card

It should have worked in a few minutes.The SD card could be faulty or incompatible with your machine Turn it off, wait 15 seconds then turn it on again. This will not cause damage to the machine.
SD cards should be inserted or removed with the power off. They are not like USB drives which can be inserted with power on.

Your machine uses USB drives not SD cards according to the manual, are you using an adaptor?

If it still doesn't load after 10 minutes, there is a problem with either the SD card or the machine. Try the SD card on another Elna 860, perhaps at the dealer's shop, to prove it is ok, then ask the dealer to load the designs into your machine while you watch.

When pattern "8" is sewn with the feed balancing dial D at the normal setting mark (?) the
sewn pattern should be as indicated in the mark 0 in the following figure.
1. Set the adjustable pattern mode.
(Turn on the power switch while pressing the reverse button. Choose pattern 8
within 2.5 seconds. Display screen should read "CHECK PATTERN 8").
2. Set the feed balancing dial at normal setting mark (?)
3. Depress the controller. (Eight patterns "8" will be sewn and stop automatically).
4. Remove the base. (See page 2).
5. Adjust the stretch stitch feed balance by turning the adjusting screw D in direction A or B.
6. Attach the base (See page 2)
Note: If you know the position of adjusting screw C, this adjustment can al so be made by
removing only the oblong metal plate on the base cover.

elna make elinta machine and a 140 is the same threading as a 130
try entering the sites as most I go to require an account ( free) to procedure to read or down load and that process would be better for you
I went google and typed in--user manual for elinta sewing machine model 130-- and the sites show 130, 140 and more so select a site and go from there
thee is also a www.youtube.com>watch that runs for 1.29 and shows how to thread an old elna sewing machine
you might pick up a clue from that film

Consult your owner's manual. If you don't have one, search the internet for:

Manufacturer + Model + the word "Manual"

are you sure you've moved the bobbin winding mechanism back to the right spot? if its still pushed over against the bobbin spool holder it may be stopping the normal functions from working. If that isn't the problem then it may be something for the tech at the Elna dealers.

Check the "Twin Needle Button" It will interfere with decorative stitches.

are the cords connected correctly?
when was the last time the machine was serviced
