if you look up "john derre riding mower" blog or club, I'm pretty sure you will eventuality find a bunch of lawn mower enthusiast, with alot of time and resources on their hands. Most of the time you can find rare parts, paint, manuals and lots of extras.

remove the carb take it apart and soak in in carb cleaner for 24 to 36hrs clean out all the passages and that should do it

Remember the belt rule, V of the belt goes in V pulleys.Flat pulleys that are stationary or move get the back of the belt. You can figure it out. Its not rocket science. Remember at some point there has to be a tensioner,usually gets the back of the belt if its a flat pulley. U may have to remove the spring and then reattach the spring after the belt is routed.

To temporarily fix you need to remove brake linkage to trans.If this works you need to get it to the dealer to replace park brake rod.
