Wipe out the oven with paper towels. As much as you can. Try putting some baking powder down to absorb the grease then wipe it out. If the flames are not huge it should be ok. Mine did that once and burned out the grease and did not damage the oven, but they were very small and burned down quickly.

When you turned the oven off, if the ignitor went off and the gas kept flowing then the thermal valve is defective. Maybe that was the problem all along.

SOURCE: when i turn my oven on, the flames come up into

If the burner pressure is adjustable(some are not) you can use a small adjustable wrench to turn the gas orfice to lower the gas pressure. The orfice is usually located in the broiler/storage comaprtment at the very bottom of the range. It is the brass piece that goes into the burner venturri and is where the gas comes out. If your turn it clockwise it will decrease pressure & counter clockwise will increase pressure. If the flames are coming into the burner compartment that is quite an increase in pressure!!! Make sure the the range did not have the gas regulator removed. If it was then that would explain why the oven burner pressure is so high.

How can I clean the racks in my oven

I use oven cleaners like Easy-off to remove the mess. You usually have to spray the cleaner on the racks and oven, then heat it up to the temperature in the instructions. In 5 minutes or so, the cleaner dissolves tough oven grease and food spills will wipe away easily.

Check out this site:

There are printable coupons as well.

Check out Easy Off Oven Cleaner. They make a special one for self cleaning ovens that won't hurt the self cleaning part of the stove. Just use small amounts at the time.

How do i start self clean cycle on my whirlpool accubake range

Hello- Unfortunately "self-clean" eventually becomes "self destruct" in most ranges. Extreme temperatures incinerate anything inside the oven during this cycle, and sometimes 'cook' the circuits on the control panel. I recommend using foil and drip pans whenever spills are possible. Light clean with damp rag, and scrape bottom as necessary. Turn on to 450 deg. for 30 min. Not hot enough to do pottery in your oven, but safer and should burn off most of stuff inside. -Lots more info on how bad self-clean can be, but Grandma's way still works fine. Hope this informs and helps you- ED

Describe how to access the self cleaning feature on the accubake oven and how long does it take?

Press the "Auto Clean" or "Precise Clean" button depending on the control type of your range. Then press start. The oven should lock and start the self-cleaning cycle. The cycle is usually 3 hours from start to finish and cannot be stopped once it has started heating. The range gets extremely hot and causes the inside of the oven to act like a catalyst to burn the grease. It will create smoke and odor depending on how dirty the inside of the oven is. Make sure to leave the exhaust fan on above the range to remove some of the heat. And definently do not do the cleaning cycle on a hot summer day!

I NEED TO KNOW IF IT IS SAFE TO RUN MY SELF CLEANING OVEN WITH MYSELF AND PETS IN THE HOUSE. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE IF YOU CAN ANSWER THIS QUESTION.

The general answer is yes, however if there is a lot of build up in the oven the self clean cycle may result in irritating smokey fumes. It's always best to clean the oven before there is a heavy build up, and at a time when you can open a window or two if the fumes start to bother you. If there is a build up on the floor of your oven now, you can try using a plastic spatula to scrape off some of the real heavy stuff before self cleaning. This should be a FixYa for you and your cats. Thanks.
