How can I use my iPod while charging?

If your iPod and it gets low on battery, you can continue to enjoy your music while charging your iPod. To charge your iPod, you can choose from one of two ways: Use a computer to add power to your iPod, or use an electrical outlet to charge the device. Either method will allow you to use your iPod while charging. If your iPod is so low that it does not turn, you may need something to load before you can use while charging.

Charging the iPod using a computer

1. Have ipod A1137 4GB What do I do after I plug into my desk top. Do not have a manual.

As soon as you plug The Ipod into the desktop the battery charging image should come up on the Ipod screen ( Yes even if its Off ). Let it charge completely ( the battery picture will be fully green in color ).
Meanwhile down load I-tunes from the apple website given below and follow the simple instructions of how to manage your Video and Audio files.

It has instructions for plugging in the mac.
Basically, think of it as putting the mac at the end of a fancy USB cable - should be no different from the standard way of connecting your ipod with your mac

IPod will not charge or download music from iTunes......help

Someone posted a similar problem on another thread and included a solution that worked for him/her. It worked for me as well, when I had the problem. For me, it was not an iTunes or iPod problem but a Windows Vista problem. I don't know what OS your son is running. I've copied the step-by-step instructions from the other thread into this thread for you. Give it a shot - good luck!
 1. Before manually placing the iPod into Disk Mode - verify that it has a charge, if not you need to either charge iPod before continuing or connect it to power. Either connect it to a high-powered USB port, or connect the iPod to the Power Adapter and pluf that into an electrical outlet..
 2. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Set it to Hold, then turn it off again. Just slide back and forth. )
 3. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons for at least 6 seconds until the Apple logo appears.
 4. When the Apple logo appears, release the Menu and Select buttons and immediately press and hold the Select and the Play/Pause buttons until the Disk Mode screen appears.
 5. Disconnect iPod from the power adapter and connect it to your computer; the screen on the iPod will change and say "Do not disconnect"
