Knob not working and some burners not heating

The switch under that knob is bad.  It's called an infinite switch.  As far as the elements go, first thing to check is for proper voltage (220) to the cooktop.  Let me know what you find.

Burner fails to ignite

I have this cooktop and it is hands-down the worst. That clicking sound is the spark missing the mark because of a crack or chip in the ceramic igniter. Damage is caused by the ceramic heating too quickly. Especially when the house is cooler in winter, or in air conditioning. I had a Jenn Air repair guy in to replace them before the warranty ran out and he said this happens with every single one of these models with the ceramic igniter. Also, one of the knobs on the front by the medium burner got so hot it melted. He gave us a new one. He had a whole box of them in his truck! He told us the design was inferior and that Jenn Air uses a different igniter for higher end models because of this problem, but won't re-engineer the lower end units because it's cost prohibitive. Even with the repairs they cover for the first year, they recoup in charging for service the second year, than profit on the repair and/or replacement charges for the parts every year after that. All the parts sold are OEM--no after markets, so, at roughly $27 a pop for each igniter, they make out pretty good. Oh, and the burner knob is melted again. What a bunch of scamsters. I will never give them my money again and am shopping for a new cooktop. I left a good review at bizrate for this cooktop.

Remove ceramic cooktop

grouch, kill the power to the cooktop. You are going to have to remove the mounting brackets from undernieth and push the cooktop up. After it's up from it's installation position remove the side and back screws holding the top to the botom. Remove the burner knobs and it should come apart. Sounds like you have a bad burner switch.
