Have a mackie profx8 and the effects don't work

It does not make any difference to the sound whether I mute the fx or not. Cannot get any echo or reverb.

Sounds as if you're not sending a signal to the effects unit or it is not sending it's signal to the bus you want. The manual should sort you out.

SOURCE: I have an mackie cfx 12 on which the effects do

Yes, send this to a Makie repair facility. Chaances are there is a chip going bad... most likely the A-D or D-a convertor.

Try putting this is your freezer and then immediately test it. This MIGHT indicate if problem is easily found with circuit cooler spray.

SOURCE: The mute button cuts the main audio but the effects audio is still heard. What to do?

That's basically normal actually...however it depends on which aux send you're using. If you use aux 1 for the effects, you can use the pre/post switch on the master aux 1 send to switch it to pst fader....now your mute switch should kill the effects as well. Aux 2 is good to use for monitors where you don't need to return them to the mixer.

I cant find the echo part on the mixer for karaoke

The effects or FX section is on the top right of the mixer. On your vocal channels find the yellow knob marked FX and turn it to 0. Choose the effect you need using the Program knob (top right) for karaoke this will probably be 03 or 06. Start singing and turn up the yellow knob marked 3 - FX under AUX Sends until the LEDs above them hit -0db, no higher.
Now find the button marked FX - Main Mix and make sure it is UP.
Turn up the yellow knob (3 - FX) next to it until you can hear enough echo on your mic.

I have a mackie fx 8 mixer connected to two thump 15 " speakers. i want to add a set of base non- powered speakers with power amp to my fx 8. what are the connections?

Balanced audio interconnects (either XLR or TRS cables from the mixer and then balanced audio interconnects from the amp daisy chain inputs to the existing speaker inputs. If the amps do not have linked input jacks, then use TRS type WYE connectors at the inputs. Then use speaker rated cables from the amps to the passive speakers.

How do you make an echo on this mixer

You will need to buy an effects unit for this, either delay or reverb depending on the echo you want, there are no built-in effects on this mixer, sorry!

Hope this helps!

Hi, I'm dealing with a problem on my Mackie ProFX 8 mixer. For no reason that I can discern, I am simply not getting any signal out of the mixer. I've adjusted the appropriate levels and gains,...

Are you getting signal into the mixer? Do the level meters light up?

If so, check your speaker cables. If not, check the mic cables and mics (try with phantom power on and off).

Also, try plugging a speaker into an Aux out to see if you can get level out of that.

Hope that helps...

Hello, I recently bought a Mackie Profx8 mixer here in the UK and I cannot locate the fuse. The AC socket does not have the fuse tray underneath (unlike my Mackie speakers) and there is no indication...

Essentially if the fuse goes, the unit is rendered useless until it is repaired. Replacing the fuse without repairing would likely cause further damage in the unit. Fuses blow for a reason that is usually a failure in the unit. Failures don't fix themselves. The ability to replace the fuse is therefore a moot point. To keep your unit safe ALWAYS power all interconnected equipment from the SAME power receptacle or conditioning module. This means running extension cords to powered speakers if that is what you have to get power the mixer. Powering mixers at one end of a room from a receptacle and the amps or speakers from a recpetacle on a stage at the other end will likely damage you equipment when a ground fault occurs or ground bounce in the building wiring ruptures the sensitive input/output circuits of your equipment.

Blown amp in the TH-15A . Is there a replacement amp assembly I can buy and how much

Yes, the amp section can be replaced. It won't be cheap however. Your best bet is to contact Mackie directly. Do a web search for Mackie Parts and contact the service center. Thay will either take the order directly or refer you to a local supplier based upon your location. They have always been extremely helpful when I used them in the past.

Can not get any sound from my condenser mic through any channel on my new ProFX8 board. The Mic works throug other amps, the USB bypass allows me to play music files and all EQ/level functionality works...

When you get to page 13 of your user's manual, notably sections 6, 7 and 8, you'll find that Phantom power works on an XLR cable, not 1/4".

So, unless your Mic has batteries, you need a different cable.

The FX portion of the board is clipping with no input signal present, there is no sound output at all. Also, none of the mute/pfl LEDs light up on channels 1-12.

There are several clipping indicators on this board. Do you mean that the small vertical display to the left of the FX selection window is maxed out from top to bottom? I will assume that you have ALL the FX inout knobs CCW for all channels AND the FX slider all the way down. Also does the FX selection knob work to change the effect number? Does the rest of the board work? WILL the effects pass sound when you send it through the effects? You say no sound, but was that just to say with no sound sent to it it still is clipping, or that it will not pass sound?
