Mackie MR8 150W 8 Active Two-Way Studio Monitor MR8 Questions & Answers
One of my MR8's has
Open the unit and remove one wire from one of the woofer terminals and using an ohmmeter check the resistance between the terminals. It probably should be between 6 and 16 ohms... they don't give the specs on the speaker... if it is very high or infinite resistance, the voice coil is blown and you be re-coning or buying new speaker. These are close in speakers and intended for a small room for studio listening while mixing. If the speaker is OK, then the bass amp in the cabinet has a failure... pray, as that is cheaper to repair than a speaker.
How do I replace the tweeters for the mackie mr8
I built a web page on how to replace the tweeter on the MR8. Lots of good photos to help you with this problem. You can find it at: http://www.idahomojo.com/IdahoMojo/Mackie_MR8_Tweeter_Replacement.html Hope it works out for you!
One speaker hums very loud
If this monitor is humming without nothing connected to it, maybe the electrolytic capacitors from its power supply are bad - they are responsible for filtering the fluctuation at the output of the internal voltage rectifiers that transform the AC input voltage into a DC voltage to feed its internal amplifier.
When they fail, the supply voltage for its internal amplifier that should be flat, continuous, now presents a pulsating profile, according to the mains frequency (generally 60 or 50 Hz, depending on the country you're in). So, the output of the amplifier will be varying at the same rate, producing the humming.
Another possibility is that one internal cable connection that should be shielded is now disconnected or loose and is picking the hum from the internal power supply.
Anyway, maybe you should take it to a service center and have it checked.
Hope this info may help you!
Hi, I have a problem
The woofers were likely the problem in the first place. DO an ohmmeter check on them.
Note that the ohmmeter often doesn't work for testing piezo tweeters, but does work for the woofers with voice coils.

Ask for the tweeter for the MR5 & MR8 the part number might be 0030616. The price is about $31/tweeter
I have mackie mr8's my left one, when powered on
Sounds like a ground loop. MAKE SURE ALL of your equipment is fed from the SAME receptacle. Make sure the ground pin on the power cable is good (try another cord or swap). Swap the audio cable to verify the cable has a good ground.
Very loud ground hum when
If nothing is pluged into the speaker and it makes that noise. It is not a ground problem. You either have a blown amp or remotely some bad connection at the large filter caps.
What voltage and power from the transformer mackie
This is just a hint as I was unable to find the schematic. Transformers VERY seldom fail, if you are getting anything out and the fuse is holding with no heating, the voltages are probably right.
Common voltaages seen after the rectifier and filter and regulators are +/- 15 volts and sometimes +5 volts. For the power amp they are usually between +/- 35 and 60 volts unregulated.
For small amps using the TDA2050 type amps, you will see aproximately +/- 24 volts DC unregulated.
Same here man...
These are Bi-Amped, that is have seperate amplifiers internal for the LF and HF.
First have to find if the amp or the actual speaker driver is bad.
My Mackie SR1530 is powering on but no sound.
If your Mackie SR1530 is powering on but you're not getting any sound, there could be a number of potential causes. Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
- Check your connections: Make sure that all cables are properly connected and securely plugged in. Check both the cables going into the speaker and the cables that are connected to your audio source.
- Check your audio source: Make sure that your audio source is turned on and properly connected. Try connecting a different audio source to the speaker to rule out issues with the source.
- Check the volume levels: Make sure that the volume on both your audio source and the speaker are turned up. Try turning up the volume to see if you can hear anything.
- Check the input settings: Make sure that the input settings on the speaker are correct. For example, if you are using an XLR cable, make sure that the input on the speaker is set to XLR.
- Test the speaker with a different audio source: If you have access to another audio source, try connecting it to the speaker to see if you can get any sound.
If none of these troubleshooting steps work, there may be an issue with the speaker itself. It may be a good idea to contact Mackie customer support or a qualified audio technician for further assistance.

Mixer signals is on but qsc 1450 amp not giving any sound when main output is connected but when run aux send to amp it gives sound. What might be the problem.
If you are experiencing an issue where the QSC RMX 1450 amplifier is not giving any sound when connected to the main output of your Mackie 16 OK mixer, but works when connected to the aux send, here are some possible causes and solutions:
- Check the main output level on the Mackie mixer. If the level is too low or muted, this can cause the amplifier to not produce any sound. Increase the main output level on the mixer and check if the amplifier produces sound.
- Check the cables connecting the mixer to the amplifier. If the cables are damaged or not connected properly, this can cause the amplifier to not produce any sound. Ensure that the cables are connected securely and are not damaged or broken.
- Check the amplifier settings. Ensure that the amplifier is set to the correct input source and that the input gain level is set correctly. You may also want to check if there are any protection modes or limiters enabled on the amplifier.
- Check the speaker connections. If the speakers are not connected properly or are damaged, this can cause the amplifier to not produce any sound. Ensure that the speakers are connected correctly and are not damaged.
- If none of the above steps work, there may be an issue with the mixer or the amplifier. You may need to contact a qualified technician to further diagnose and repair the problem.
Remember to always follow the manufacturer's instructions and safety guidelines when working with audio equipmen
