Try to restart the printer once or twice....after that check if the printhead is moving to the center of the printer or not. if its moving to the center...try to take out the printhead and then reseat it back in the printer. this will fix the problem for you.

feel free to contact if this doesn't fix ur problem.

SOURCE: kodak 5300 first said error 3802 now says print head missing or loose

I got the same Problem as listed above. This is the way how I was able to solve it:

  • Remove the color and black ink cartridges and the printhead. (the 5300 Printhead can be removed by pressing a button on top of the carriage and a slight pull --> for better instructions use this official Kodak PDF)
  • Try to clean the printhead and the carriage with a slighty wet cloth from ink. CAUTION!: better not touch the green electronic chip! Be carefull while cleaning.
  • Reinstall the printhead and the ink cartridges.
  • If the printer detects a 'new' printhead just do a calibration and your are done. If not try to print a test page.

Hope this solves the Problem. Best wishes

SOURCE: kodak 5500 printer can't detect print head

open the cover and take out the printheads and clean the contact points. also clean the contact points on the printer.
reinstall it and see what it does, also try turning the printer off and on /
if this does not work you need a new printer /the printer hardware is bad for sure if you have already replaced the printhead and catridge .

if printer is in warranty ask for a replacement

SOURCE: The printer says that my print head is loose or

Hi,

First thing to do is get the top off which can be easier said than done. The printer has four screws holding the top. After that remove the control panel by undoing the four screws holding it in place. This isn't strictly necessary but it makes life easier. Now move the print head to the left. To do this you have to lower a locking bar that is located at the base of the head. The head can be quite hard to move but it does slide left. Under the print heads you will find two pads of hard foam. These collect the ink when you perform a normal head clean and keep the print head moist. Soak these with water . Pool water on them and let it run through (it goes through to a large pad at the bottom of the machine by the way). Fold some tissue and lay it on the base when the heads pass over. Push the head back and forth over the tissue to clean the actual head. The tissue will come out covered in ink.Now for the tricky part get an old printer cartridge and remove the label on top that says "do not remove". Under the label you will find a couple of holes. Widen them / open them with a drill bit about 3 mm is good. Fill the cartridge with water and put it in the printer. Push the heads back over to the right as far as they will go. This will cause the sponges to come right up against the heads. Leave the set up over night. In the morning test the printer. Run a couple of head cleans with the cleaning cartridge in. Your problem is solved now

Why is print head loose or missing?

The print head houses the printer LASER if it is missing NO Printing. OR Loose normally the print head is located well inside the machine so you cant see the LASER beam when it is working.

My printer comes up with print head loose or missing i have removed they look fine i put them back but the fault is still ther

Make sure all the contact points are clean. It is also possible that the print head has failed and the printer will not see it. These newer ink jets are not as durable as the older models.

I have an ESP2150 with an error message of printhead loose or missing. I checked print cartridges, I replaced print cartridges, I re-installed software and drivers.....I still receive the same error...

Hello,
Unfortunately, trying to diagnose a printer without actually looking at the printer is a little like trying to diagnose a car engine over the phone. But, from the sound of it, the problem you are having is not exactly pertaining to the print "cartridges" but the print "head" which is the part of the printer that actually introduces the ink to the paper, and is actually part of the tray the ink cartridges fit into. Here is a picture of it:

This print head is able to be removed and replaced if needed. It may be something as trivial as being loose. You can remove it from the printer and reinstall it to make sure it is seated correctly. Here is a link for instructions on Kodak's website on how to uninstall and replace the print head:
Installing and replacing print head.

If the print head is either damaged or worn out (which can happen) you can replace the print head, which I just did a search online for one and it appears the print head is only around $35.00 to replace it. Here is a link to where I found a replacement print head:
Kodak Print Head Replacement for ESP2150

I hope this helps.

Even after reinstalling printhead an ink cartridges on Kodakhero 5.1 printer, I still get the error message that the printhead is loose, missing, or not properly installed. What do I do?

Most likely this is a print head issue. The print head is what the cartridges sit in inside of the printer. To attempt to resolve it, do the following:

(1) Open the printer and wait for the carriage to slide over. If for some reason it does not follow these instructions:
(a) Unplug the printer
(b) Manually slide the carriage over until you can get the ink cartridges out.
(2) Remove the ink cartridges from the print head.
(3) Use cotton swabs dipped in isopropyl alcohol or hot water or a mix of hot water and isopropyl alcohol to thoroughly clean the print head.
(4) Repeat this until there is no ink residue coming off on the cotton swab.
(5) Once finished, allow to dry and replace the cartridges
(6) Try to print something now

If that does not work, then you need to try soaking the print head. In this case:
(1) Remove the print head from the printer
(2) Soak it in hot water for an hour or so
(3) Remove it, let it dry completely
(4) Replace the print head and cartridges and test it

MX 700 KEEPS MISSING PRINTING LINES OF TEXT COME OUT BLANK

This issues looking printer head problem. check the following Steps for cleaning printer head :

Click on the Start button if you have Windows XP. If you have Windows Vista, click the Windows icon that resides in the lower left corner of your computer screen.

Click on "Control Panel," then "Printers and Other Hardware." Finally click on "View Installed Printers or Fax Printers."

Right-click on the name of your printer and choose "Printing Preferences." This should open a new window; next look for a tab or button marked Maintenance, or something similar.

Find the button that says "Print heads" or "Clean the Print heads" and click on it. You may be asked to choose which print heads; choose them all if you are. Make sure there is paper and ink in your printer, and that it is turned on ahead of time.

Take out the page your printer has printed and see if there are any grids or boxes missing. If there aren't, then you can just exit the program--your print heads are not clogged. If there are grids missing, then click on the "Cleaning" or similarly worded button.

Once the cleaning process has completed, print another page to be sure that your print heads are no longer clogged. If they are still clogged, repeat Steps 1-5 until your printer is printing clearly.

I keep getting a Printhead missing, not installed correctly or has come loose error. I have tried reinstalling the print head, several times and powering off several times but neither help. Any...

HTML clipboardHi
Here are a few possibilities...
1. Try cleaning the contacts on the print head and where they make contact inside the printer. (use cotton wool and Alchol) if that does not work...
2. Pull out power cable from printer wait 1 MINUTE then insert cable and switch back on again. (some printers reset to factory settings)
3. Remove printer cable from computer... Uninstall Printer driver from computer... Switch off both printer and computer. Wait 1 minute... Reconnect cables and switch on printer and computer... Allow computer to find printer... reinstall driver.
