If the lamp is new it could be the ballast the one is supply high voltage for the lamp you can order that ballast from Sony
Check the lamp if is not damage any where
Cheers
SOURCE: Good sound, no picture, green standy light flashing
Don't foregt to check the cooling system fans (exhaust is the one you can see on the back panel, the intake (lamp cooling fan) is located inside the back panel (10 screws) and is horizontal above the lamp area. if this is clogged it won't spin and causes the red light to flash (like warning/diagnostics code). There is also a cooling fan on the optics blocker (also called the engine) but it's deep inside and hard to access.
Seems these Tv's all have cooling issues caused by dust with the result being short lamp life, melted plastic, optics with dust inside, and burnt boards.
Sony forgot what I learned: Death, taxes, and Dust!
SOURCE: I have the same problem as robgon52 dated 1/25/09.
Hi,
You need to replace Lamp only as existing lamp is weak in result and causing such symptoms.
Ballast supply is fine and working.
Thanks.
