Why does touch pad lites up but does not respond?

Carbon contact inside the touch key pads become faulty,only remedy is to replace complete touch key pad.

The key pad assembly is faulty as the carbon contacts get disconnected,the only remedy is the replacement of touch key pad.

try to unplug unit then press clock or number pads to set clock first then try to use. if wont work, maybe bad touch pad or controller

The screws on a microwave are tamper resistant Torx screws. These tools are commonly available.

I would think that the touch pad will need replacing.

If you were to log on to the manufacturer's web site, I think you will be pleasantly surprised as usually one is able to download, by model number, Customer Instruction Manuals, list of Dealers for spare part supplies and Driver downloads as required.

Just Google the manufacturer's name and follow the links. Make certain you are directed to the manufacturer's web site as some search engines direct you to other sites and they charge for the information that is normally free of charge.

Needs a new touch pad if it doesnt respond, you can check the connection between the touch pad and the pcb, but it sounds like there is an O/C on the pad.
