Unplug the USB Pen drive change the write protection ie.slide the small swithch/button on the USB to unlock & then you will be able to format or write to it.

Have you tried doing it from another PC? If the same problem persists, look closely at your drive and check for a tiny switch that has a lock label on it- it maybe switched to the lock position. Most USB drives has this switch for write protection.

Hi

The pendrive seems faulty or corrupt but there might be a possibility that you recover functionality. I think you might be using XP or VISTA. Whichever the OS use another computer with A DIFFERENT OS (so if its XP go to Vista or vice versa) and FORMAT it. You should be able to get your pendrive working again. If not it is tough luck time!

Cheers

There is a write protection in my flashdrive.. so i cant format it.pls help me to format it

Contact the flash drive vendor, they ca help you with this. They will probably e-mail you a program to clean the flash drive with. That will remove the password protection so you can use the drive again.

Removing write protection of USB pen drive

if u format ur pen drive. then use this step
-
Check out the registry under:

1)click on start button
2)clik on run dialog box
3)type regedit
4) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies.
The value 'WriteProtect' should be absent or set to '0' and when you try to format it you have to format it as FAT16
