My usb drive is write protected it cannot be formatted
Unplug the USB Pen drive change the write protection ie.slide the small swithch/button on the USB to unlock & then you will be able to format or write to it.
Have you tried doing it from another PC? If the same problem persists, look closely at your drive and check for a tiny switch that has a lock label on it- it maybe switched to the lock position. Most USB drives has this switch for write protection.

Hi
The pendrive seems faulty or corrupt but there might be a possibility that you recover functionality. I think you might be using XP or VISTA. Whichever the OS use another computer with A DIFFERENT OS (so if its XP go to Vista or vice versa) and FORMAT it. You should be able to get your pendrive working again. If not it is tough luck time!
Cheers
