EasyShare DX6440 "USB Device not recognized"

Transferred photos to the computer about 4 weeks ago with no dramas. Tried again last week, same camera/computer, and I get the "USB Device not recognized" message. Have tried different USB ports, re-installed EasyShare, re-started the computer, re-charged camera batteries.....message says "one of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and Windows doesn't recognize it". HELP! Is it the camera, connection or computer???

I changed the battery in the camera 3 days ago. Now the computer is not recognizing the usb driver. Is this related? Do I need to change a setting somewhere?

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Kodak Easyshare series 3 docking station won't download photos

No guarantee, but try these easy steps before you do anything else. Unplug both ends of the cable that connects the dock to the computer, wait a few seconds then plug them back in and try the transfer again. If that doesn't help, uninstall the EasyShare software, then go to Kodak.com and download/install the latest software.

Suddently my movies won't download onto my computer Kodak DX 6440

Close the Kodak EasyShare software from your system tray (down by the clock).
Go to www.apple.com and download apple quicktime.
After you have installed quicktime successfully, add the videos to the software.
Since the pictures were downloaded successfully, videos are also transferred.

They are usually saved in your My Documents\My Pictures\Kodak Pictures.

USB divice not recognized

I tried many ways to fix the problem. Someone suggesting unpluging it for 30 min. That didn't work. I downloaded the latest version of the camera driver. That didn't work. I downloaded the latest version of windows, and that didn't work.
I was running out of ideas. But I thought I might try restoring my computer to a prior date. This restore feature hasn't worked for me for 6 month. But, that day, luck was on my side.
Since I restored my computer to two weeks ago. My problem, is fixed!

Can't find flash drive on my computer after inserted into USB port.....Comes up saying not in right port..I have transferred photos onto it several weeks ago, but can no longer retrive them from the flash...

Try removing the USB drives from the Device Manager, then power down, plug in the flash drive and power backup again.
Win should find the drive and reinstall drivers and recognize the drive again.

Despite improvements in the behavior of Widows, it is also still advisable to 'turn off' a removable drive before unplugging it.
If you system is pretty much standard, you should find the drive symbol with an arrow indicating 'remove' on your task bar to the right.
Left-lick on that symbol and it will bring up a short menu of any removable drives and then just click on the one you want to pull.
