What is the difference between sd and sdhc camera cards?

SD cards go up to 2GB in size. SDHC cards are from 4GB to 32GB in size. SDHC is an extension to SD, and SDHC cards will not work in devices not designed to accept them, whereas SD cards will work in device that accepts SDHC cards.

Will not hold charge

If the rechargeable battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods.

The camera repeatedly tells me

The DX6440 works with MMC and SD cards. Your 4GB card is actually an SDHC card. While it fits into the slot, it is electronically incompatible and will not work. You need to use cards 2GB and smaller.

Mode Dial Stuck On Camera

Hey i had the same problem. Saw your post and none others. Finnaly i gave up looking and just started tearing my camera apart. My camera is a Kodac 7630 so the diss assembly may be a little different but with the removal of a half dozen screws i got to the inside of the dial. It didnt feel sticky but i took it apart any way and cleaned all the touching serfaces of the dial with rubbing alchohol and my problem is solved. took about 30 min and there was really no danger of harming the camera. Its amazing the just a little stickyness caused the problem i was having because i could push with all my might and the dian didnt budge. i thought a part was broken in there. i think this is because you allso have to push down to move the dial so a little tickyness combined with your downward presure makes it impossible to turn.
good luck

Viewfinder is off track on the inside.

Can you give a better explanation of what you mean by off track? Do you mean it doesn't track with the zoom or is it not correctly aligned compared to the screen?
Viewfinders are never very accurate on that class of camera, you would have to dismantle to see if anything has come adrift within the viewfinder, and unless you can do it yourself it wont be economical.

Just shoot loose if using the viewfinder and use the screen if it's critical.

I hope I have been of help but please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
I appreciate your vote if you appreciate my reply.

I purchased a 4 GB SDHC card for my kodak easy

The DX6440 uses SD cards. While SDHC cards will fit into the slot, they are electronically incompatible and won't work. You are limited to SD cards 2GB and smaller.
