SOURCE: I DO NOT HAVE INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE AUDIOVOX MVDVD4

Most FM modulators most commonly run on FM frequency 88.1 or 88.3 but usually have several options, so play arround with the stations in that range, and see if you get sound, also look under the dash for a toggle switch of sorts, sometimes the modulators have to be turned on..

My DVD player door does not want to open

I have had this issue many times before with different devices. Here are some tips that could work for you.
1) If there is a small pinhole you may be able to put a paper clip in there and open the drive that way.
2) Try pushing the door towards the DVD player this may actually help opening it.
3) Be careful! But you can try pulling the door open but be careful not to damage it further :)
If none of those work is there a model number to the DVD player?

Purchase or borrow an imported DVD. The only real reason to make your DVD player region-free is if you plan on watching imported DVDs.

  • 2 Locate your DVD player's brand name and model number. These can usually be found on the box the DVD player came in, or on a sticker close to the video inputs or on the bottom of the DVD player
  • 3 Have your remote handy. You will need your remote to enter the input codes into your DVD player.
  • 4 Locate a Web site that can help you with the codes you need for your particular DVD player, since all DVD players have different codes. Try DVD Exploder or Video Help (see Resources below). Both have an extensive list of codes for almost every kind of DVD player manufactured.
  • 5 Enter your brand name and model number when prompted to do so on the Web site. If your particular model number is not available, try searching under the brand name. Sometimes you will be able to find a model number that is close to your DVD player's model number.
  • 6 Enter the codes into your DVD player with your remote. Be sure the DVD player's door is open-almost all codes require the door to be open.
  • 7 Test your imported DVD to see if it works, once you have entered your code into the DVD player.

GO VIDEO model 1030....VCR works fine...DVD..nothing happens...door won't even open?

Combo units have this essential flaw--if one half fails you are usually done especially if the DVD side fails.

If Door does not open either a disc is jammed inside the mechanism or the mechanism is out of alignment or damaged.

Good argument against buying these units--DVD individual parts are rarely sold--only (if available) would be the entire DVD unit itself--not cost effective to repair.

DVD players are now real cheap (see some for as little as $20) so if not a simple jammed disc or something like that buy a DVD player.

    Audiovox MVDVD4

Just stumbled upon this as I was searching for a new MVDVD4 and thought it might help you out!! :

When the van was a little over 3 years old, the DVD player suddenly quit working. I would put in a DVD, the player made some noises like it was trying to read the DVD, then the display would say "NO DISK".

As it was out of warranty and I have a background in electronics, I opened the player. After playing around for a little while, I was able to fix the player real easily. If you have the same problem (and the player is out of warranty), open up the DVD player by removing the screws and breaking the seal. I blew out the inside with compressed air, but I doubt this made a difference. The problem was that the DVD was not spinning. The spinning mechanism under the DVD tray was not starting like it should. I carefully sprayed a couple drops of WD-40 (well actually Remington's Rem Oil) where the metal rod the spinner sits on goes into the motor mechanism that spins it (it will make sense when you look inside. It is where the little metal rod goes into the plastic casing). After a couple of drops of oil, the player worked fine again.
