There are a couple of things that you can try to see if the image clears up, or is to your liking. You can adjust the resolution of the picture via the menu in the tv. You can also try resetting the tv to the factory settings, via the menu. You can also try auto configuration, which is also a menu item. If you are using a dvd/blu-ray player, use the HDMI cable for optimum picture quality.

1. Your TV has a digital tuner built-in, you do not need a set-top box to receive local digital channels.

2. Try to disconnect the box, hook up the antenna directly to the TV antenna input & program the tuner, you may getting better picture.

reset your tv from setup menu.hopefully sound come.

is a mute function enable or a defective control board. Needs to be checked. send to repair store.

This is a common problem with LG 42 and many were recalled to change the offending board and part of this p-oor quality TV

Pros: The picture is good, great size for our well lit 7m x 7m room.

Cons: Sound delay - we assume that is to do with being digital, the sound lags behind other analog TV's in the house.

Overall: LG service is pretty ordinary (not just for TV). There was a product recall on this TV, but the service department was unaware it covered this model - I had to print out the details from the LG website when the serviceman came. We've now had the TV for over 2 years and a red tinge became apparent at top and bottom of screen, we placed a warranty call and the local service agent came and took the TV away two weeks ago. They are still awaiting parts from LG to repair the problem.

I bought a LG 39" flat screen 6 months ago. TV has been working great until this morning. Power comes on for about 5 seconds and then cuts off. Have checked all connections and have unplugged from wall to reset, NOTHING!! And a brand new TV!! Any help would be great!
