My 42"LG 50 TV will not turn on

One important step to see if you are having an internal problem is to perform a power drain.

1. Unplug the product's power cable so that the device is not grounded to the house. Do not simply turn off the power-bar if one is in use.
2. Press and hold in the products power button for 1 minute to release the retained electricity from the capacitors and circuit board. 3. Plug the product back into the wall outlet rather than a power-bar to rule it out of contributing to the problem and turn the device back on.
If this does not work but you are still seeing a LED lit up, there is probably a problem between the TV's power supply and the mainboard and service maybe required.

Keep having to retune tv since changover

Check its memory IC. Replace it. It is a very small IC having 8 sodler terminals, and can be located very close to main system control IC. Usually these ICs will start with a number 24 C xxxx. Even though it is very small one, function of this part is very great when TV works on. This IC stores all the data value, when we swich OFF the set, and retain that values in it, till an other switch ON. It has a non-volatile type memory array. The work is very skilled one, as you have to desolder it out and resolder it in. After replacing, so many service mode adjustments have to be done, and you must have through knoledge in electronics to proceed.

LG 42LP1D television does not power on

The clicking noise is likely a mechanical relay clicking on and then off.Someone has to open and check first power supply voltages and do a visual inspection for burnt or damaged parts....Then it becomes a guessing game of which board to buy, install and see which is your trouble maker.

Hi, Cheri Torres with DISH Network Customer Service here. I came across your post and wanted to see if I could help. Since you have already set the aspect ratio on your DISH receiver to the correct option the next step to try is changing the format. You can do this by pressing the (*) format button on the DISH Network remote, you should be able to cycle through a few different options to find the best one that fits your TV. If this option still does not fit the TV the way you want it to the only option left is to change the format options on the TV itself in the TV menus. You may have to refer back to your TV manufacture or the TV manual in order to do this. I hope you find this information useful and if you have any further questions please let me know.

Tv will not switch on - when you press power on

I've answered three of these so far, so this problem must be a very large manufacturer's defect big among large-screen LCD TVs of a bunch of different makes.
It's a power capacitor inside the TV that controls whether the power supply works or not. Our Samsung 46-inch started doing the same thing with about 2 months of a 2-year warranty left in it, and I'm glad we called the local retailer, because they were aware of this problem and gave us the number to Samsung, who paid to send a trained repairman about 60 miles to our house to fix it. During his repair, I helped him remove the large back cover, and set the TV on its face, and asked him about the problem. He detailed to me exactly what I said above, and also that it's been a very big problem with the rush to get new TVs out to market.
If your TV is still under warranty, jump on this situation before it runs out--it is a hardware problem, not fixable otherwise...
If it's out of warranty, your local TV repairman should be able to repair this for less than $100, easy (the part on ours was a $2 capacitor, the repairman said).
Hope this helps.
