Replacing the capacitors would be a good start. Replace all the ones with the same capacitance and voltage rating even if they do not look bulge.
Let me know if you require further assistance.

hi...your convergence IC's have gone bad.
These IC's operate at a very high temp, and usually only last 4-5 years.
If you remove the back of the set, you will want to look for the BIGGEST heatsink in there, on that heatsink, you will see 2 large IC's , probably STK392-040, or STK392-120's or something close...regardless - you can go on ebay to order the new ones, but MAKE SURE they are Genuine SANYO IC's and not counterfiet cheapies. the cheap ones may only last 2 months..
You will also need some "Heat transfer paste" - you can pick this up at radio shack.
Once you remove the old IC's, test all the large resistors near them.. pull one side of the resistor out of the board so you can check it out of circuit. they will usually have the value in Ohms, printed directly on the resistor, but you may have to use the resistor color code to find out what value they are....However, usually if there is any damage, the resistor will look like it has been HOT or fried. replace the IC's and any bad resistors, and you should be good to go.
If after replacing the IC's and any defective resistors, the convergence is still bad, make sure to use a multimeter to check ALL fuses on the boards, --- sometimes when the IC's go, they will take out a fuse to the convergence power supply. If you find any bad fuses, replace them accordingly!
Hope that helps u alot...

thank u!!!

You might want to try reseating all of the ribbon connectors that connect to the tcon first, but it sounds like you may have a bad panel(screen) which is probably what made the original tcon die. The only other possibilty would be the backlight inverter board(either the master or slave depending on which side the dark area is on).

The power supply is most likely shot and need replacement. Swelled caps are only a issue some of the time most power supply issues are either a transformer, Regulator or diode problem. You can get free technical help from www.tvrepairworld.com to help figure out whats going on and they also have replacement parts available.

In almost all cases where the set is taking a long time to turn on and then turning off it will be the Power Supply board that will have bulging capacitors, usually three to five. Look on the upper right side of the Power Supply and look for any blown caps. You can replace these caps and you will be fine. Now the other cause can be the Power Switch is shorting out. You can disconnect the the Power Switch but not the IR sensor and then turn ON the set with your TV remote and see if this stops the problem. If you are not skilled in component level repair on the Power Supply board then buy a new Power Supply board and install it.

Samsung LN-S4051D 40 in. LCD Television will not turn on

Are the red lights still flashing after replacing the caps? Bulging caps usually means the caps are at the end of their life span, but shorted caps may look just fine. Check any caps that you did not replace to see if they are shorted. I bet you still have a bad cap somewhere on the power supply that is shorted.

Samsung LNT-4665F won't power up properly

There are two places to look for the problems, the backlight inverter board and the power supply. Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.
