SOURCE: locate the jumper for the cmos

Check the manufacturers website for jumper location... Alternatively, if you can get a good look at the motherboard, sometimes the jumper sequence and location is stamped on it

SOURCE: Dell D505 BIOS Reset

Generally, all you need to do is get on to Dell Support and get in a chat with one of their people and tell them that you are locked out by a BIOS password, and needed to get around it. After they verify that you are the owner of the laptop, they should give you a password that gets you through it.

SOURCE: jumper location motherboard blade 2, dell latitude x300.

The password is not on the battery it is in the volatile memory.

The battery supplies the power to the volatile memory to make sure it retains its settings.

If you have removed the Cmos battery and when you put it back the machine still has a password then the password is written into the non-volatile memory and cannot be re-set that way.

Get a hold of someone with ERD Commander and they will drop the password off in a couple of minutes

How can you reset the cmos password

Dell Optiplex 780, user forgot BIOS master password (which is necessary to change the boot order to run BartPE from CD and do an image backup).

There is a jumper on the mainboard called PSWD1, which is set (shorted). Remove power cable from PC (CMOS battery can stay in place), open the lid. Remove jumper from PSWD1. Reconnect power, start the PC, hit F2 to enter BIOS. All passwords should be reset.

Leave BIOS, power off the PC, remove power cable. Reattach jumper to PSWD1, close lid, reattach power cable. Start PC. Enjoy.

Need cmos jumper location on Dell Dimension 8200 to bypass bios password

From what I can gather, you just need to locate the jumper labeled PSWD and remove it. Turn computer back on, then back off. Replace jumper pin and turn computer back on. That should do it. Removing the jumper disables password. Turning on computer resets it. Replacing jumper re-enables password capability.

I have the e210882 motherboard and i have a prob with "bios" cant get in.. Need password..how can i fix this?

Hi!

It so simple, you don't need to blow your mind looking and thinking of the password. Just reset the BIOS jumper configuration straight from your motherboard and the password will be gone.

Open your computer system case and then look for this thing:

37b1487.jpg
Next, move the jumpers from the their default location (Example: from across pins #1 and #2 as above) and then place the jumper across pins #2 and #3.

Leave the jumper in place for 20 to 30 seconds and then return it to its default location.

Its done! The password is gone!

Or you can try also this procedure.

- Just remove the BIOS battery and place it back.

Refer to your motherboard manual to do this as reference.

Have a nice day!

How do I reset my bios password on my Dell Studio 1537? I forgot the password and I've already tried removing the cmos batt.

This information is intended for experienced users. It is not intended for basic users, hackers, or computer thieves. Please do not try any of following procedures if you are not familiar with computer hardware. I'll not be responsible for the use or misuse of this information, including personal injury, loss of data or hardware damage. So use it at your own risk.
A. By Using the Motherboard Jumper:
In most motherboards CMOS battery is soldered, which makes it difficult to remove the battery. In this case we use another method.
Almost all motherboards contain a jumper that can clear all CMOS settings along with the BIOS password. The location of this jumper varies depending upon the motherboard brand. You should read your motherboard manual to check its location. If you don't have the manual then look for the jumpers near the CMOS battery. Most of the manufacturer label the jumper as CLR, CLEAR, CLEAR CMOS, etc.
When you find the jumper, look carefully. There will be 3 pins and the jumper will be joining the center pin to either left or right pin. What you need to do, is remove the jumper and join the center pin to the opposite pin. e.g. if the jumper joins center pin to left pin, then remove it and join center pin to right pin. Now wait for a few seconds and then again remove the jumper and join the center pin to left pin.
Make sure to turn the PC off before opening the cabinet and resetting the jumper.

B. By Using Software:

I have found that BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool is the most effective.:
BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool is a program that works instantly to remove any lost or forgotten BIOS/CMOS password. Simply boot your PC to DOS and execute the program, and get access to forgotten BIOS/CMOS passwords in just seconds

How do I reset my lost bios password for Dell Precision M70

Hi,
If you cannot access the machine after if has been powered up, it is still possible to get past the BIOS password. The BIOS password is stored in CMOS memory that is maintained while the PC is powered off by a small battery, which is attached to the motherboard. If you remove this battery, all CMOS information (including the BIOS password) will be lost. You will need to re-enter the correct CMOS setup information to use the machine. The machines owner or user will most likely be alarmed when it is discovered that the BIOS password has been deleted.
On some motherboards, the battery is soldered to the motherboard, making it difficult to remove. If this is the case, you have another alternative. Somewhere on the motherboard you should find a jumper that will clear the BIOS password. If you have the motherboard documentation, you will know where that jumper is. If not, the jumper may be labeled on the motherboard. If you are not fortunate enough for either of these to be the case, you may be able to guess which jumper is the correct jumper. This jumper is usually standing alone near the battery. If you cannot locate this jumper, you might short both of the points where the battery connects to the motherboard.
If all else fails, you may have to clear the BIOS password by resetting the RTC (Real Time Clock) IC (Integrated Circuit) on your motherboard.
The BIOS password may be cleared from a Dell Optiplex by removing the password jumper (PSWD) from the motherboard.
The location of the password jumper on a Dell Optiplex motherboard can be found by reviewing the Optiplex User Guides.
For most Dell Optiplex desktops, the steps to reset a BIOS password and clear all CMOS settings are:
  • Locate the 3-pin CMOS password reset jumper on the system board.
  • Remove the jumper plug from pins 1 and 2.
  • Place the jumper plug on pins 2 and 3 and wait approximately 5 seconds.
  • Replace the jumper plug on pins 1 and 2.
Each Dell Inspiron has a master password which will clear the BIOS password. You can get this number by calling Dell Technical Support at (800)624-9896.
Dell Technical Support will request the Service Tag and Express Service Code from the bottom of your Inspiron.
