Consult your owner's manual and oil ONLY as instructed. Be sure to use good quality sewing machine oil as recommended (NOT old oil from your grandmother's sewing basket, 3-in-1 oil, WD40, or cooking oil).

SOURCE: Elna Primula 410 Bobbin Winding Question

Wind the Bobbin
For the usual jobs, it is the best to use a medium sized thread.
2. Disengage the flywheel by unscrewing the coupling knob as far as it will go.

3. Place the bobbin on the bobbin winder, and push the bobbin winder to the right.

4. Pull out one of the spool pins and place the spool of thread on it.

5. Pass the thread through the bobbin winder tension discs, as indicated.

6. Wind the end of the thread around the bobbin by hand, in the direction indicated.

7. Wind the bobbin, at a medium speed by pressing lightly with a finger on the spool so as to stretch the thread better and thus fill the bobbin to a maximum. The full bobbin stops automatically.

8. Re-engage the flywheel by tightening the coupling knob.

9. Cut the thread and remove the bobbin from the bobbin winder by pushing the latter to the left.

Where do you oil the Elna 6000 sewing machine?

From memory these don't have a lube point, you just need to remove the bobbin case and brush out underneath it regularly to remove any lint or threads. There may be oiling wicks internally that a technician takes care of though so it pays to take to a trained Elna technician regularly. With the introduction of computerised sewing machines there was less metal moving parts, nylon gears and I think these had a couple of electric servo motors which do the work, rather than the old style sewing machine chassis.

My car was recently broken into and they stole my embroidery unit which was part of my quantum xl 6000. the problem is, is that they no longer make the sewing machine and iv'e made numerros calls and i...

I have a suggestion that may sound a bit over the top, Singer is no longer an independent company, it seems that Elna has bought or merged with Singer. Elna has a machine called the Xquisit and it is the identical machine to the Singer XL 6000, I have given lessons on the Elna machine by using my Singer to show what to do. You might contact Elna and see if there is someone to help with your problem or contact several service centers to see if they have any dead Singers and therefore orphaned embroidery units. Just a suggestion.
