Easiest way is to connect the TV & VCR using a Scart connector. The VCR should automatically switch over when play is selected. To go over to the VCR channel then select AV1 on the TV input select. ( This may be named different depending what make of TV you have eg. AUX 1)

How do I hook up a VCRDVD player to my sansui flat screen TV and what do I need to do in terms of channels or inputs or setup to get this accomplished

To connect a VCR/DVD player to a Sansui flat screen TV, you will need to use the appropriate cables and connections. Here are the general steps you can follow:
  1. Check your TV and VCR/DVD player for the available ports. The TV should have RCA composite video and audio inputs, and the VCR/DVD player should have RCA composite video and audio outputs, or HDMI port.
  2. Using the appropriate cables, connect the RCA composite video and audio outputs from the VCR/DVD player to the corresponding RCA composite video and audio inputs on the TV. If your VCR/DVD player has HDMI port, use HDMI cable to connect the TV and the VCR/DVD player.
  3. Turn on your TV and VCR/DVD player.
  4. On your TV, press the "Input" or "Source" button to switch to the input where the RCA composite video and audio cables are connected or HDMI.
  5. Using the remote of your TV, go to the menu and select the input where the VCR/DVD is connected.
  6. If you don't see any picture, try adjusting the settings on your TV and VCR/DVD player.
  7. Once you are able to see the picture on your TV, you should be able to use your VCR/DVD player as you normally would.

I'm trying to get my dvd recorder and vcr hooked up to my new flat screen tv. How do I connect them and what channel do I put my tv on (flatscreens don't have channel 3 or 4) to recognize the dvd recorder...

DVD players do not connect using regular cable connections Your flat screen TV should have separate Audio and Video connections. These are the connections that you should use to connect your VCR and DVD player. If you have a combo unit, that is a single unit that has both DVD and VHS in one box, you might be able to get your VCR to work on the cable connection. However your DVD will not be able to work as the cable connection doesn't allow enough information to pass through. If you go to your local Audio Video store and tell them what you want to connect they should have the cables you need for less than $10.00. Good luck.

HOW DO I CONNECT MAGNAVOX DVD/ VCR TO VIZIO FLAT SCREEN

Is simply. get the audio/vido cables and look on the back of the TV and connect from the audio video outputs from the combo to the audio video inputs on the tv. remember the colors of the terminals and connect them that matches the red, white (audio) and the yellow (video). Using the remote locate the button "input" or "source", and select video 1 or 2, depending where you connected it.

I cannot connect my vcr to my saNYO FLAT SCREN

First of all, it's a disservice to connect an aging vcr to a new flat screen. 2nd if you must, find out if the back of the vcr has the same connections going out to the back of the new tv going in. Post pics of the back of your machines if you can't find a friend to help.

Bought a new 42' flat - "No Program or Weak Signal"

Hi,you have not said weather you are using a scart lead(euro connecter)or an RF lead,if you are using the later don't,please connect the vcr to the tv via the scart to scart euro connecters, use a good quality scart lead(the thicker the better)as the thicker ones generally are 21 pins connected meaning it should be auto switching so as soon as you play a tape it will come straight on.
