I have a Salton 2006. When I replaced the battery and pushed the on button a small icon with + and - above and below it flashed in the upper left corner. What does this mean?

Did you push the left button (has a green minus sign) at the bottom left of the video display? The battery indicator will be on the upper right.

Setting the Time
1. G-Shock watches feature a digital display that is set using the function buttons on the outside of the watch face. To set the time, press and hold the the upper left button until the seconds unit blinks on the display. Reset the seconds to "00" by pressing the lower right button.
   
   Push the lower left button to switch to the hours unit, which will start blinking. Advance the hour by pressing the lower right button. If you hold down the lower right button, it will advance the hour unit at a higher rate of speed. Once the hour is set, press the lower left button to switch to the minutes unit. As with the hours unit, pressing the lower right button will advance the minutes and holding it down will advance the minutes rapidly.
   
   Once the time is set, press the upper left button to save the setting.
Backlight
2. The backlight on a G-Shock watch has a manual control and an automatic function that will light the face of the watch whenever the alarm, countdown alarm or hourly alarm ring. To use the manual backlight, press the button on the bottom of timepiece. The light will glow for approximately 2 seconds before going out.
   
   The automatic function is set by pressing and holding the lower right button. When the automatic function is set, an indicator icon will display on the watch face above the seconds unit. You can turn off the automatic backlight function by pressing and holding the lower right button until the icon disappears.
   
   Note that backlight causes a drain on the battery, and overuse of the backlight will greatly reduce battery life.
Setting the Alarm
3. The G-Shock has an alarm that emits an audible tone for approximately 20 seconds when it turns on. To set the alarm, press the lower left button until "AL" displays in the upper left corner of the timepiece. Press and hold the upper left button until the hours unit starts to blink. Adjust the hour by pressing the lower right button. As when setting the time, you can advance the hour at a higher rate of speed by holding down the lower right button.

Which product u use? Each product has that option in order to solve such issues. Is it an old one? There are several places where the hole is. One is near the eject button (upper left, right, bottom right). Near the tray (below or above). Bottom left. Near the volume control. If there is a sticker or something it must have behind that. You can get it in a different way also. Remove the bolts using a screw driver. There are 2 plastic blocks (located left and right near to the front plastic panel.). Push in those small pieces in and pull the plastic fron shield slightly. Then use a flat screw driver to remove the two upper locks (where the plastic panel or shield connected to the metal cover - on the upper edge). Slightly push front and then bottom until you see the disk. Then use a soft hook or something to pull the dvd out. Then Push up until the upper locks fit together with the metal shield. Push the plastic cover in until the side locks are fit together with the metal cover.

QUICKSTART - SET THE TIME
1. Push the bottom right hand button until the mode hand indicator points to TME.
2. Press and hold the upper left button for three
seconds. The hour and minute hand will retract to the 12
O’clock position.
3. Select the time zone on the digital display by pressing the
upper right button or the lower left button.
4. Pull the bottom right button out one click. The bottom part of
the digital display will start flashing. Press the
bottom left button to adjust for daylight saving time.
5. Press the upper right button. You will see the seconds
flashing on the lower half of the digital display. Press the lower
left button to reset the seconds to 00.
6. Press the upper right button. You will see the minutes
flashing. Press the lower left button to set the minutes to your
current time.
7. Press the upper right button. You will see the hours flashing.
Press the lower left button to set the hours to your current time.
8. Press the upper right button. You will see 12H or 24H
flashing. Press the lower left button to switch between 12 hour
and 24 hour.

to change the month.
5. Press the upper right button and the date will begin flashing.

7. Push the lower right button back in.

7. Push the lower right button back in.


SET THE TIMEZONE
1. Setting the time zones allows you to add or remove cities on
the digital display or switch between daylight saving and
standard time. Begin by pressing the lower right button to move
the mode hand indicator to SET mode on the bottom dial.
2. If the hour or minute hands are obscuring the digital display,
press and hold the upper left button for three seconds. This will
cause the hour and minute hand to retract to the 12 O’clock
position.
3. Now pull the lower right button out one click. You will see the
digital display flashing. Press the upper left button to select
SET to display the city or OFF to not display the city. Press the
lower left button to turn summer time on or off. Summer time is
indicated on the lower part of the digital display. Daylight
savings time must be manually set for each city.
4. Pressing the upper right button will allow you to scroll
through all the cities. After setting, push the lower right button
back in.


USING THE TIMER
1. Press the lower right button to move the mode hand
indicator to TMR mode on the mode dial.
2. If the hour or minute hands are obscuring the digital display,
press and hold the upper left button for three seconds. This will
cause the hour and minute hand to retract to the 12 O’clock
position.
3. Pull the lower right button out one click. You will see the
minutes flashing in the digital display. Change the minutes by
pressing the lower left button. Once you have set the minutes
on the timer, push the lower right button back in.
4. Pressing the upper right button starts and stops the timer.
5. Press the lower left button when the timer is stopped to reset
the timer to its initial preset time.


USING THE CHRONOGRAPH
1. To use the chronograph press the lower right button to move
the mode indicator hand to CHR mode on the mode dial.
2. Press and hold the upper left button for three seconds. The
hour and minute hand will retract to the 12 O’clock position.
3 .To start or stop the chronograph press the upper right
button. If you press the lower left button it will display the split
time for 10 seconds.
4. When the chronograph is stopped press the lower left button
to reset back to zero.


SET THE TIME ZONE
1. Setting the time zones allows you to add or remove cities on

Have you tried attaching an external monitor when the LCD screen is disconnected from the motherboard? this connector is located under the keyboard strip – a piece of plastic just above the keyboard.
If it works, this way, then the video cable isn’t seated properly in the connector on the back of the screen. Plugging the video cable back in should fix the problem.
I don’t know how comfortable you are with taking apart laptops but I think that this information could be useful for you.

TIME SETTING--

1. Push the bottom right hand button until the mode hand indicator points to TME.
2. Press and hold the upper left button for three seconds. The hour and minute hand will retract to the 12 O’clock position.
3. Select the time zone on the digital display by pressing the upper right button or the lower left button.
4. Pull the bottom right button out one click. The bottom part of the digital display will start flashing. Press the bottom left button to adjust for daylight saving time.
5. Press the upper right button. You will see the seconds flashing on the lower half of the digital display. Press the lower left button to reset the seconds to 00.
6. Press the upper right button. You will see the minutes flashing. Press the lower left button to set the minutes to your current time.
